Trying to rearrange some partitions, swap was initially set up as an extended partition, I need to change this.
Gparted won't allow it, as it's active as a swap partition
(hdd install)
I tried right click & swap off
I tried terminal & swapoff
I tried terminal & swapoff -a
I tried terminal & swapoff -a /dev/sda5
I tried terminal & swapoff /dev/sda5
I tried booting from the cd & it grabs the swap partition & won't let go either...

how to format swap partition?
You're in luck. Ladislav just told us about a new version:
http://sourceforge.net/project/download ... irror=mesh
http://sourceforge.net/project/download ... irror=mesh
starting puppy with
"puppy pfix=ram"
doesn't / won't work - BUT - all I've ever had to do to sort this out was to run the 'mut' (media utility tool ?)
you can see in muts' display the swap partition, and there is a button you can click to turn 'swapoff'
- okay, I'm assuming everyone has the same as me - but that's how it looks/works on my system.

Also did't realize the text in mut was a button!
Hey that worked!
Formatting that partition as we speak.
Thanks!
