I am trying to make an Acer AspireOne with 8gb SSD into a nimble netbook unlike what it was originally with XP and then an attempt with Xubuntu.
I have been using frugal Lupu 5.2 off a usb drive and that works well. Now I would like to install that frugal version to the SSD on the AspireOne but have the savefile on an sd card in a slot in the computer.
An attempted install from my usb Puppy does not see the sd card (?) but the cd Puppy does and allows me to choose that drive for the save location. The newly installed Puppy seems to work fine but on shutdown it asks for a savefile location as if I had done nothing previously to set one up. Interestingly the savefile Is present on the sd card so it appears that Puppy is just not seeing it on shutdown.
This would seem to be a common problem but for some reason my searches have been futile.
Thanks.
how to install savefile to sd card?
There is a newer bug fixed version of Lupu (Lucid Puppy).
Lupu 528.005
You can get it here:

Could be dealing with a defect (bug) in Lupu 5.2
Could be a bad install of Lupu to the SSD.
Booting from the SSD install of Puppy, does it see any save files to use?
Did you use the Puppy Universal installer to do the install to SSD?

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

Thanks for the replies.

Somehow I have the feeling it is not a bug but if I don´t get it resolved I shall try the newer version.
When I boot from the SSD it shows the unmounted sd card on the desktop but immediately asks for set-up parameters so it is not seeing the lupusave-xxx.2fs inside.. Also when I powerdown it asks to set up a save file. I thought I could then just start a new one but the save setup from the HD installation will only allow 1 level of folder depth and my card is, of course, more than that (/mnt/mmcblk0p1). And yes all my installs have been via the Universal installer.

Pfind sees no ¨SAVEMARK¨.
A thought - do I need a boot flag on that sd card partition in addition to the one on the ssd drive?
