Hi.
I run the latest slacko 5.3.3 on an age old laptop which has an add-on card for ethernet. I had my DSL internet working just fine but made the mistake of trying out another card with USB 2.0 and an wireless internet adapter that goes in it. Well the USB card works but not the internet stuff attached to it and I tried to switch back. Now my original setup doesn't work either.
I tried shutting down the computer and pulling the modem plug for the MAC address(?) to reset but that didn't help.
The connection is working fine on my Windows computer where I'm typing right now.
The add-on card for the old linux laptop is called Xircom RealPort CardBus Ethernet 10/100+ Modem 56 if that is of any help.
Is there anything I can do except from reinstalling Slacko. I've come a long way with adding the software I need and wouldn't really want that. Also I want to know how to solve this if (when) it happens again.
I lost my Internet (Slacko 5.3.3)
If you are having trouble connecting, I suggest you use the Frisbee application to try to connect to your network.
If Frisbee shows your network twice, you have to create a profile in Frisbee for each time it shows your network.
I don't know if this is your problem, but if it is, it's an easy fix. This was really bothering me until I realized that I had to create the profile twice in Frisbee even though it was the same network that it was showing (same make address, SSID, etc.).

Did you do a frugal install? If so, maybe the save file got corrupted. That happened to me, and I deleted the save file and started over. Or you can enter the boot code pfix=fsckMatt82 wrote:Hi.

Have you rerun the Internet Connection Wizard?
If yes. You do what? You see what?

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
