Hi everyone. I am using a Samsung NP-QX411 and I am having trouble connecting to the internet. I think I might be missing drivers.
Even though the network scan works fine, and I see the various networks around me, when I try to connect it comes back with a DHCP error or a can't get IP error.
What information (and how can I get it) do I need to provide in order to determine what drivers I should try out?
Thanks!

Puppy Distro: Slacko 5.3.3
Install Type: Live USB (Frugal)
Utility: Simply Network Setup (SNS)
As for the chipset, when I run "cat prob/bus/usb/devices" I get a "no such file or directory" error.
However, when I use the System --> HardInfo utility, under USB Devices I get the following: "Interl(r) Centrino(R) Wireless-N + WiMax 6150".
I'm not sure if that's the pertinent info.

Tell us what you get.
Sorry, I wasn't thinking straight. That is for usb dongles.stvnx7 wrote:Puppy Distro: Slacko 5.3.3

Yea, on Slacko Frisbee is there by default. I don't understand why it wouldn't work if the networks do show up when I scan. I just can't seem to connect. I'll try Frisbee again, but it didn't work a few hours back.
dk60902 wrote:Try the Frisbee wireless utility. I can't remember if it comes up as an option when selecting menu - setup - internet connection wizard - internet by wired or wireless connection, or if you have to download from the puppy package manager.
Success!!
I am not typing this from Puppy Linux.
I was able to connect to my hidden / not-broadcasted network.
I think where I messed up is that after Frisbee shows a list of networks, I have to create a profile for that network. From there, the whole process is very self-explanatory.
Thanks for the help dk6092!
These forums are incredibly active. I hope to start contributing myself soon.
[EDIT]
If the same network is shown more than once in Frisbee (this happened to me with a hidden SSID; i.e., one that is not being broadcasted), you have to set a profile for each network shown.
This is why I was having such a tough time getting the laptop to connect. The network was shown twice (in the form of the same mac address) and I was only setting the profile for one network. It didn't work. When I created the profile for the second network shown (even though it was the same one) it worked.
I hope that makes sense.

Not hard to get confused.dk60902 wrote:

It's a 1/2 mini pcie card that has both intel wifi n and wimax.
The wimax part mentions usb as power source.
Inspiron 700m, Pent.M 1.6Ghz, 1Gb ram.
Msi Wind U100, N270 1.6>2.0Ghz, 1.5Gb ram.
