Testing forum display and formatting

This is just a test of how the forum formats excess space characters and tab characters so that I can understand how best to format posts.

Going back to my original example:

If I find a colour that better matches the forum blue then i should be able to make the formatting (spacer) dots disappear altogether.

Using gcolor2, the forum blue is #DEE3E7

(Click the eyedropper icon then click the forum page.)

Closest color name is: Pattens Blue #D3E5EF

Ok, well here is my schematic - which would not display correctly because of the stripping of spaces and tabs. Now I have added fullstop dots as space holders.

You know the difference between fixed font (in Leafpad) and proportional font (in your browser), don't you? :wink:

Use the code tag if you a want to preserve fixed character widths and whitespace

Thanks - For some reason I am seeing a difference between my "offline" leafpad results and my "online" browser results - even if I use

Code: Select all

 tags or [quote] tags.

Especially if I view the browser results on different devices (eg Blackberry browser).

I think I have more than one issue. Need to understand best font and size selection and also understand the reasons that phpBB fora wrap text outside and inside of quote and code tags. (seems different on different browsers!)
