How can I connect Pixel 2 phone to my Fatdog64-810 (Solved)

#1 Post by superchook »

I have a Pixel 2 running Android 10 which has developed a serious fault.
The phone will ring but there is nothing to swipe to answer the call. Everything else seems normal. I have not been able to find anything in the settings that might explain this behaviour and am, in desperation, considering a factory reset.
Before doing so I would like to copy any pictures or files to this computer running Fatdog64-810.
If I click on MTP Browser in the menu under Filesystem a dialog asks me to plug in the connecting cable then click OK. Doing so produces an empty folder
mtp_Pixel_2 in the /root directory without a green dot.It is as though the browser sees the phone but it is not mounted.
What else should I try?

Normally I would try removing the battery...on shutdown.
press the power button for over 30 seconds and then re-assemble it.

I had to do this a couple of days ago as my Moto E 4 showed up as Hotspotting,
Windows saw the wireless but would not connect...
even after rebooting both phone and PC.

Can't beat removing batteries in phones and laptops.
A desktop can have the AC plug removed and hold the Power button down as well.
Looks a little complicated on yours though.

Solved (sort of). I get the same results when connecting the phone to a Windows 10 box. Either there no pictures stored on the phone or there is a problem with the phone's filesystem.

A colleague at the local computer club ("Computer Pals for Seniors -the Hills") for other Sydney based Puppyites, was able to find a couple of settings that that fixed my phone so that is fixed too.

You don't have antivirus on that phone do you?

It can stuff things up as well.
My above Hotspot fix wouldn't work on my wife's Moto G 4 Plus.

Removing the AV fixed that issue.

You should have pointed out the link to your fix for the next bod
who searches on the Net.
