Keepass2 not working in tahrpup 6 (Resolved)

I have tried to install Keepass2 from the package manager.

I now have a Keepass2 Icon from the menu, but that does not start.
I was hoping to get this to work as I multi boot and have Keepass2 on other installs of Linux and even on Android phones.

I have seen the thread

Trying to use that method did not seem to help. From a console I then got another error about a file not found.

I am wondering if I have the wrong version of mono installed?
I am not very experienced with Linux/Puppy. I do not really understand dependencies and do not want to break anything by trying to for instance blindly uninstall and reinstall components.

If I insert mono in to the script as advised in the above mentioned thread and then try to start keepass with the start menu icon it silently fails to startup.
Alternatively if I try "keepass2" in a console I get an error:

The assembly mscorlib.dll was not found or could not be loaded.  It should have been installed in the `/usr/lib/mono/2.0/mscorlib.dll' directory.

I note I do not seem to have that path to .../2.0/... I do however have other folders including .../4.5/... which does contain a mscorlib.dll

If it helps I seem to have v3.2.8 mono installed

Not sure what further info you may require. Please try to make any answers simple | explicit; as I am rather new to trying to use Puppy | Linux.

This is a full install on a multi boot laptop.

New Problem
I did open quickpet and seeing there were updates available opted to install them, however that has broken Puppy. It now only opens to a terminal screen with a root prompt.

I will need to re-install Puppy I guess. Perhaps I can pick your brains on that subject.
You probably know off by heart the relevant help articles & links for downloads.

I tend to use Puppy as a backup OS and generally use Debian, but keeping Puppy in reserve for whenever the main OS is problematic. Or on very old machines - I still have a 32bit Windows Laptop where I tend to use Puppy instead of the outdated insecure Windows.
Its not long ago that I threw out an old machine with less than 1GB Ram available.
I have tended until now to keep passwords on password protected Libre Office documents but recently have been using Keepass2 instead so it will be useful to be able to use this on Puppy.

I will probably try reinstalling the latest version 64 & 32 bit versions depending on the machine.

CD/DVD install with persistence.
I do not have any spare USB sticks at present but I do have CDs/DVDs and machines that will boot from them, so I could try installing Puppy on optical media as well as using multiboot installs.

Multiboot with Grub2 - Frugal install ? or Full?
I have tended to go for full installs as I know how to do that and multiboot them.
I do read about the advantages of frugal installs unless on a very low power machine, but do not know how or if they will multiboot with grub2.
Could you please advise and point me to any relevant help article if frugal installs will multiboot from Grub2 ?

System Requirements
I do see 32 64bit & PAE versions, but have not yet stumbled across any listing of System Requirements. I have tended to work on the assumption that if any Linux will run it is more likely to be Puppy than heavier-weight distros with fancy graphics.
Are System Requirements listed ?
e.g. for the Puppy Ubuntu Bionic from http://puppylinux.com/index.html

John, as things have changed for you, it's OK to abandon your thread here.

I suggest giving this request for advice an appropriate title and posting its content as a brand new thread.

Hi John99,

I see you're looking at switching Puppies but I just thought I'd share this.

In case you haven't yet, have you tried KeepassX? I use that on my Xenialpup and use the KeePassDroid app on my Android phone. I use the same database; I just copy it from my Puppy machine and onto my phone and KeePassDroid opens it and it works.

I only go that way though (PC-to-phone); I've never tried it the other way around, editing on the phone and copying the updated database back to desktop PC.

I used to use KeepassX in Tahrpup too and it worked.

Thanks for the post.

I have now tried Dpup and keepass2 & keepassX works for me in Dpup.

Quite possibly had I stuck with Tahrpup and successfully updated it I would have got Keepass2 working, but I gave up on Tahruip and moved on to Dpup.

I will probably stick with Keepass2 rather than KeepassX as it is more likely to retain compatibility across time and devices if I use the one or a closely related app rather than a less closely related apps.

Keepass2 does have an issue with Puppy in that it needs a minor change as explained in a linked thread before it will work. I will mark this as resolved. I will not mark it as solved as I have not personally fixed it and got it working in Tahrpup 6, but that was possibly down to my Tahrpup being faulty rather than an incompatibility.
