Best driving songs

#1 Post by greengeek »

I have a road trip coming up and the driving goes better with a line up of great songs. Youtube has a wide bunch of driving song "Top Tens" but here's one of the best I found:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4zQgYHCcTQ

I'm keen to hear what your favourite driving songs are (and what car/truck/bike/road you love)

Here's another great list:
http://www.planetrock.com/music/backsta ... ing-songs/

My own favourite is Golden Earring's Radar Love. Up real loud.

Here's part of the road I will be travelling:
In NZ we call it "The Desert Road" because not much grows there. Yeah, it's not real desert but it's still my favourite road.

On a Highway to hellll....

That sets my mood.

The game Need for Speed had some good songs in it.
Look at following link.
http://gamethemesongs.com/search.php?q=need+for+speed

I generally listen to radio, it's got the "Surprise me" factor.

Add this song which I first heard in Fifa2002 Game.

In NZ, do you people drive on the wrong side of the road just like the brits and Australians?

Yup, many commonwealth countries do.

Not in Canada though.

How about Feeder ~ "Buck Rogers" song.

Used in movie "Behind Enemy Lines" just before they shoot down that plane.

How could you miss that?

Except you're probably a 15 years old boy living in Pyongyang?

No, but I gave my old drum kit away for free to a music store collecting instruments for refugees!

Ha ha, 34 year old boy, living in India.
Outside music doesn't reach here much.
Bollywood drowns out them.

Don't worry, we are talking late 60's here so you may still be "too young" to have heard. They were/are very famous though.

Ok, I see.

I'd heard CCR (Creedence Clearwater Revival) first when I was aged 13. My mom got divorced some time ago and a first step father stepped in. He was younger than my mom, much younger. Appr. 10 years. And he was just around 10 years older than I was. Also his name was Rainer as well, so no problems to let him get close to me and to accept the step dad. Made me feel somehow special...

He had a Double LP, Creedence Clearwater Revival featuring John Fogerty, Chronicle, The 20 Greatest Hits, 1976.

I still got the Double LP, though my son Dennis broke LP No. 1 when he was appr. aged 12, so +- 20 years ago.

Looking at the cover actually...

Brings up to mind, why I don't like him (my step dad) anymore nowadays and don't have any contact. When I was 17 he and my Uncle Norbert committed a sexual harassment on my Girlfriend (that later became my wife). They both entered our room at my parents house and then the bed - drunken of course. I couldn't do anything against them, so I left the room stating to call and inform my Aunt Anne (for sure, believe it nor not: her full name is Anne-Rose Frank) and that stopped them both immediately and forced them to left the room.

However, still love the music.

Thanks for the link. Tried a couple of tunes but sounded a bit "electro trance" for my liking (maybe i hit the wrong links)

Nah, we dirve on the right side. I mean left side. That is to say - left side is right side. Right side is wrong side
:-)

Interesting if I felt in a laid back mood - but normally a bit tame for my driving frame of mind though. The youtube vid is not bad - packs more of a punch than the song itself:

nic007 wrote:CCR always good for a roadtrip. I recommend Lodi and Who'll stop the rain.
Hadn't heard Lodi before - but thats a goody. I reckon CCR is a good call for staying awake - better than coffee.

Yep. Not bad. Might make me drive a bit angry though. :-)
Good for overtaking 8)

Jimmy Barnes - Driving Wheels
Oh yeah - that does it. That particular vid came up real quiet though. Must be another version somewhere. Love Cold Chisel for a long drive. INXS too. Must be something about the long dusty outback roads I reckon. Dry throat. Cold beer.

REM, "Bang & Blame"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cdZQ41rGAgYep, thats a goody. (I liked Main in the Moon too)

Neil Young, "I'm the ocean"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_uHkAn ... cYktKzkkPq
Not bad. Pretty up tempo for NY - but I'm not too much of a Neil fan myself. He always seemed a bit self absorbed.

Keep 'em coming... I need about 100 songs I reckon.

Hi All
Anything that has a fast beat and is loud even with the volume turned
down. Which of course is not the way to play Rock music. Here is a list of some
of the bands I like to listen to while driving.
AC DC, Bad Company, CCR, Deep Purple, Grand Funk Railroad, Guns and Roses,
Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Meat Loaf, Metallica,Ozzy Osbourn, The Who and the road
anthem Born To Be Wild by Steppenwolf

Yes a mixed bag. Yes I am old.

Best Regards
John
