Official 4.3.2
Everything worked for me that the update was supposed to fix. So I am unsure about installing it.
My only problem seemed to be that the selection in the dropdown for programs in HELP seemed to not take me to the appropriate help file and local man pages installed by a pet failed to display when typing man name of program.
Other than that, all seems good.
I spoke to soon on the HELP program.
It seems that since it now uses Seamonkey for display, AND if you have no-script enabled, no-script will block javascript from working and the help for a program will not be displayed!
Also, Seamonkey 2.04 seems to work well for me.

I have now done a full install on this old Toshiba and so far the only thing that i have had trouble with is SM2, two lockups while browsing and the only way out was a rude shut down. On reboot it gets stuck at the dos prompt but a reboot solves the problem.
I have now installed FF and so far no lockups, anyone else reported problem with SM2?.

The interesting thing about Seamonkey is that when you compile it, usually its around 2-3mb smaller compared to the default mozilla release, but I downloaded Barry's Quirky 2.0.4 that he'll be using in the next release, and well its the same size as the one in 4.3.2, well I have extra plugins etc that make it 2mb larger extracted but if you remove the plugins its about the same size, I did remove and replace the default theme with the current one which was smaller, plus I tossed the modern theme, but so did Barry, I removed chatzilla which Barry did, but as a bonus you get the address book which I think he doesn't include, so I think I did a pretty good job on scaling a default version down to size

There was nothing wrong with sound production in 4.3.1 for me
. . . or in Lucid
- No idea what has been changed in this version
The new volume setter disappeared after running the pet
rerunning x server did not bring it back
rebooting brought it back but the sound wizard
had to be set manually again.
Hope you get other testers

Ya I think I might remake V3 without the 3 updates that could effect sound and net, but what a pain. lolLobster wrote:There was nothing wrong with sound production in 4.3.1 for me

It is a shame
Many years ago in the last century
before we even had Windows or
computers that were 'widdly wees'
(My sisters term for hi tech gadgets)
the BBC Master could be upgraded to run
with a a 10MHz 80186 co-processor
which was only 80% compatible with
with other x86 and x88 - at the time
Some programmers developed on these machines
because iif it worked on the Master 512
it worked on anything . . .
- well not Amiga or Atari but any PC compatible
I may have the modern equivalent

OK. I put v3 on my old Dell 7500 which has always had sound issues.
However before I could test the sound the frugal install behaved strangely.
I copied across the three op files, set up menu.lst and then re-started the lappy, opening routine OK, set my defaults, EN-GB etc and let boot complete.
Then I set it to reboot to setup a pupsave.
This ran OK and set up a 512mb pupsave.
Rebooted, no problem, then ran network on the wireless and saved all parameters. Checked, yes access to net.
Set for reboot so it would add to pupsave, here's the problem, it then started the close routine BUT offered me a pupsave window as it claimed I was running from live CD. ?
So I selected NO and it carried on the shutdown dialog but it stalled with " fatal --- sys not mounted "
It did this 3 times then closed.
I then rebooted and it loaded previous pupsave through to desktop OK but on setting for reboot same routine occurred again with 3 fatal messages.
I have used this iso on this PC ok so I'm going to try again on the lappy just to check it wasn't a corrupt copy across.

Hmmmm. Most odd.
The Dell lappy just doesn't want to play.
I downloaded v3 in 431 on lappy and then set it up for boot.
So that's a new iso and a new load.
Same result, all OK until reboot from first pupsave. Then when shutting down on 2nd run it offers a new save window claiming I'm running from live CD. If I select NO it then goes on and errors 3 times with Modules - Fatal - /sys not mounted.
I just can't get anywhere with it on the Dell 750 laptop.
Will try one last time with new d/load again.

I also tried installing the update. In my case, I had a populated pupsave file too.
When I booted up, I had to go through the initial setup again with all the first boot messages displayed and on reboot, it asked if I wanted to create a pupsave.
I said no.
The next boot came up with the Boot Manager displayed on the Desktop for SFS selection of additional SFS files.
I clicked OK on them without having it load any additional SFS files at the next boot.
The 2nd and 3rd boot took me to the desktop.
For those that wonder, after installing the update PET, the "run once" files were restored and that is why you had to go through initial setup again.
Also, still local man pages installed by programs are still not available with the man command from a terminal AND it seems "nroff", "groff" and it's support files have disappeared in 432. They were in 431.
So to view a man file for a newly installed program, I have to navigate to the program's man directory and view the man file as text.
Since 432 and 431 use the same kernel, I tried copying the above files over from 431 to 432 along with a fixed man script from 431.
But I did not realize at the time I needed support files for the binary file "groff".
I will have to do a "ldd groff" from a terminal in 431 and see what files it says it needs.

OK now I know it's a bug.
D/Loaded v3 and checked it all out, sum correct so a good copy.
Burned a CD of the iso.
Ran it live and did an install as frugal. Rebooted and set up usual settings only.
Rebooted to set up a pupsave. Set it and restarted, booted OK through to desktop.
So as a test at this point only usual settings in pupsave, I rebooted again.
It shut down no problem, restarted OK and through to desktop.
So, I did this 3 more times and all was successful.
Then I ran the network setup and set my wireless parameters, all OK tested browser, all OK.
Rebooted, started OK through to desktop.
However on shutdown the error appeared again. 3 fatal messages as sys not mounted.
I tried a reboot again and all ok to desktop but on shutdown again the message fatal and a new save screen claiming I'm running from live CD.
It seems that using the network wizard causes a problem in the pupsave at exit.
