I tried it again without the boot flag toggled by gparted.

The same thing occurred where the process of dd to sd card would not terminate, even after over one half of an hour.

I killed the process and put the sd card in the Raspberry Pi3 and this time it booted to desktop and setup dialog box.

I will have to see if any functionality is impaired or if files are missing.
So far, it will at least get online.

I had the same experience once as well.

The solution was take the card to a Windows machine and use their software to
format it --- I believe I chose fat32

Everything went well after that.
I think the problem was trying to use gparted in linux OS

By the way you don't need to mark the partition 'boot'

Mitchellray, reading your description makes me wonder if your original download of the image terminated successfully?

If your download of the image cut out just before the end, attempting to write the incomplete image onto the card might give problems of the sort you describe.

The file downloaded correctly so I'm sure that the problem is that gparted is having problems with formatting the card .

I suggest going to windows and formatting as fat32 with

Unable to browse certain site in Seamonkey browseer. It says it is not supported. (www.amazon.in, etc.) Also while browsing google.com, I am getting mobile site. I don't know this is because of Internet connection. I am getting internet through mobile hotspot .

You can change the browser agent id, chrome browser would be the closest to Seamonkey. I do not know why its shown as a mobile browser ( ARM flag I guess ). I do not know how but when you figure out which of the few methods work to change browser agent label let us know.

Yeah, this is very annoying. The browser thinks we are running on a mobile device.

I haven't figured out how to turn it off.

On the google page, down the bottom, there is an option to switch to normal view.

Firefox has a useragent addon/extension that enables you to pick or set what useragent is presented to sites. Don't know if that's also available for seamonkey though. If not then the about:config firefox entry is a string entry of general.useragent.overridepreference that if created you can set to perhaps one of the main choices taken from here so as to pretend to be something else. Again I don't know if its the same about:config entry as in seamonkey.

there are photos of a Quirky working on a Odroid-ux4. Is this going to be released or a howto of how to do it released. I have downloaded quirky pi and flashed it to a micro sd card and it looks completly different to JB's FD arm. If it were as simple as taking out Pi's kernel drivers ect an replacing them with JB's kernel package I would have a go at it. But FD arm uses .sfs for the user space so that looks daunting.

No sound. Haven't tried anything else, this is the very first bootup.

The kernel is the current official one for the Odroid XU4, version 3.10.96. That is very old and unfortunately the Overlay filesystem was introduced with the 3.18 kernel, so I need to upgrade the kernel.

The new kernel is 4.9.50 (7 days old)

Right now I am compiling SeaMonkey 2.46 on the Pi3, running Quirky Xerus 8.1.4.

It has been chugging along for about 20 minutes, but many hours to go...

Just a little note, I plan to get Easy Linux running on the Pi2 and Pi3.
Same Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial Xerus 64-bit DEBs as in Quirky 8.1.4, but Easy uses the layered filesystem, and has "q.sfs" with all of the filesystem in it -- like in Puppy.

However, there is no "save file", which I consider to be too much of a hassle. You can read how Easy works here:

Pi3 had not been booted for a while (Xerus 8.1.4). Now Seamonkey browser has problems with many sites OCSP and requires override for each.
Is Seamonkey 2.46 working well? Is there going to be a Pet soon?

I was trying to find your latest SeaMonkey for Raspberry Pi3 in the repositories but only found 2.40. I've been looking under the Quirky/Arm6 in the ibiblio website. Is there another area or have you not uploaded, yet.

Trying to recreate your Xerus for Pi using Woof. Seamonkey 2.40 wasn't working for me; not sure why.

Hi guys, a heads-up on what is coming soon...

I have a fork of OpenEmbedded, named oe-qky-src, which is a very sophisticated cross-compiler environment. My "Pyro" series of Quirky and EasyOS for x86_64 PCs, are built with packages compiled in oe-qky-src.

Very recently, I did a build in oe-qky-src for a aarch64 target (64-bit arm), and imported them into woofQ, see blog report here:

I now have a running 64-bit Quirky on my RPi3 B. I don't have the B+ model.

In a much earlier post, I posted about compiling SeaMonkey on the RPi. Well, doing it again, on this latest Quirky, SM 2.49.3.

Started it last night, this morning, about 12 hours later, still going.

Hmmm, have been compiling for 21 hours. Whenever I jiggled the mouse, the screen would come back, however, did that just now, and the screen remained dark.

However, the hard drive activity light is still flashing. I have the SM source on a 1TB usb hard drive, plugged into the RPi. Contributing to the slowness, running through a usb cable!

The hard drive has a 9GB swap partition. It could be that the Pi has become too stressed and is thrashing the swap partition.

Will wait, hopefully the screen will come back.

I will be getting the Purism Librem 5 phone dev-kit sometime, which has more power. 2GB ram I think. They promised that in August, however that is very optimistic. I need a aarch64 board to compile on, faster than the Pi!

There was a bug report here that you may not have seen.

Also I have a request. I have found by using my raspberry pi3+ as
a headless music server that having x11vnc installed , ready to be launched with a simple SSH command is very useful.

Samba isn't as necessary, since there are other methods to transfer files.

So far, just one problem, the QuickSetup window renders with everything upside-down. That is, the "OK" button is at the top of the window. It is still usable. I do recall this problem from ages ago, but not the solution. QuickSetup uses gtkdialog for the GUI rendering.
