How to add Repositories?

#1 Post by Diggs_Redux »

I've done a fair amount of digging and I can't find any way to add repositories to Puppy. What am I missing?

I was going to try installing gnu-ddrescue and its gui but so far no luck at all.

(Sorry - Please move to appropriate forum...)

This is the information file on how to do it.
/usr/local/petget/README-add-repo.htm

Just navigate to it in the Rox file manager and left mouse click on the file README-add-repo.htm. It should open up, in the web browser, to read it.

Never tried it.

It is suppose to tell you how to add a repository to the list of available repositories in the Puppy Package Manager (PPM).
In PPM configure, you can select from a list of repositories, which ones you want PPM to use.

Also, do the update database to get it up to date.

You can also get to this information by clicking on the Add New Repo button in the PPM configure window.

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected

Hi Diggs_Redux,

This post may provide some clues in addition to those in bigpup's post above:

But I don't know of any way to add a repo to a Puppy's PPM which is not already in some Puppy's PPM.

Perhaps it could be done by modifying Lazy Puppy's "Lazy Fred". Doing that is beyond my skill set. And as noted in the post I cited, Lazy Fred doesn't check for dependencies.
