Haha, yeah, Caro Vanguard I think has an older version of PetGet so it doesn't dance with modern DEBs...

PetGet would be the backend portion of your Puppy Package Manager. You'll have to beg Geoffrey and battleshooter for that

and battleshooter's not been on in a while, I think...

GG, the latest postings are always on Slackware Security Advisories.

If however Chrome needs this as a Seamonkey pkg, extract these and you should be able to figure what to do.

Thanks Semme. I tried that link and it says things like: "Your user agent is vulnerable" but I don't feel confident that it is actually testing my software - more like it is guessing on the basis of my 'user agent'. What do you think? Is it a genuine test?

Nah. Like any other testing site, they're read'n your libs.

You can easily test by swapping these and spoofing your ua string.

I tried to install in Slacko 5.7 following the steps mentioned in Op but get a fatal error

I tried seamonkey-solibs-2.12 and 2.33 as the one linked here is no longer available.

How can I do?

Rope, a few questions..

Are you sure it's Google Chrome you want, not Chromium?

Were you trying to use this because your save file doesn't have the room?

Which partition type is /mnt/home.. FAT32, NTFS.. one of the several Linux types.. Which?

I would prefer Chromium for privacy and if it works well with Google Docs offline but I could not find it portable.

I do not want to increase the save file. I tried Seamonkey portable and I liked it. I can run it from different Puppies.

NTFS. I am using an old pc with Puppy after a Windows crash.

I have Chrome as sfs
Version 34.0.1847.137 Puppy Linux LxPup (268882)
I run it as "all in home"
Newer versions do not work in this Slacko

Granted I haven't worked out the details, but, I've got a functioning v30 SFS you can try if you're interested.

It creates two menu entries and has your typical, annoying startup message --Gee, thanks Big Brother.

I loathe ANYTHING having to do with those idiots!

If you'd like to have a crack @ it, say so..

Hell, you may be better off with the browser in my second screenshot.

Thanks semme . I don't understand. The sfs you created is to install as portable?

I already have a v34 sfs that creates some entries in the .config when I load it but most is in home because I use the "Chromium all in home" script.

You asked me about Chrome, I never tried Chrome, I use Chromium 34 as sfs. Chromium 38 does not work.
