Connecting to wifi with Puppy Network Wizard
Hi zion
Welcome to Puppy. It has a variety of connection tools and they are very good. I think you are using the Network wizard and you should follow this sequence of events for a wireless connection.
1. Select Network Wizard
2. Select wlan0 (your network card may have a different description)
3. Select Wireless in the Configure wireless network box.
4. Select Scan and your ESSID should come up. If you want more information on it you can hover your pointer over it and it will tell you; channel number, signal strength, MAC
5. Select your ESSID and OK
6. Give a name to your profile
7. Most people use WPA/TKIP - select it.
8. A box will open for you to write the WPA password. It is called a Shared Key. Enter the password.
9. Leave the other boxes as they are. Rarely do these need adjustment.
9. Select Save
10. Select Use This Profile
11. A box will appear showing Puppy trying to connect
12. A box will come up “REPORT ON TEST 0f wlan0CONNECTION

Hi...
Could you open a terminal and post the results of this command...
This will give us an idea of what wireless adapter and driver you're using.
Here is a page that gives instructions on copying and pasting in Puppy's terminal.
As an idea, you could give this network manager a try and see if it resolves the issue, which is sounding like something with the encryption standard (WEP, WPA, WPA2.)

Connecting to wifi
Hi zion
Bit of a puzzle. I am not sure what you mean by main wifi?
And if your Institute uses WPA2 then you will need to go through the same process but select WPA2 instead of WPA/TKIP. More modern systems use WPA2.
And if you are in an Institute then they sometimes have a proxy between you and the outside world. That means you should be able to explore the local network but not surf the web without entering proxy details. However, if your Android phone can get access to the outside then that is unlikely.

I will try... Just after your question i realize that i have strange layout the key marked "|" gives me +. But labels on keyboard show that i have usual German keyboard.Could you open a terminal and post the results of this command...
Code:
lspci -nnk | grep -i net -A2
I'll try. But i dont think the problem is with adapter - i have no problems to acsess guest network (i just have no account their). This will give us an idea of what wireless adapter and driver you're using.

I'll try. Thanks. But my noob question is still opened. In windows and Android i just should enter login and password. From discussion above i understand that password it is shared key. But ESSID is it login? If not where is it?

Accessing wifi
Hi zion
Lets deal with LOGIN.
If I use my Android phone and look at wifi in the Settings I see a list of ESSID's; these are the access identification names for your wifi. I select one and I enter the password for that named access point. And I can then connect. I think that this is what you mean by LOGIN?
Sometimes, the ESSID is hidden and you have to know its name to connect, but if you can get access with your phone then that is not the case for you.
So if I am right LOGIN means ESSID in your terms.
Shared key means password.
You say the keyboard is not as you expect. I suggest you type the password out in Geany or Abiword and paste it into the box to ensure that it is typed correctly.
If you can take a picture of the screen you are looking at and is giving you problems.

Type your top secret password into a console and check if it is what you want it to be.
If it is then your strange keyboard layout does not affect wifi.
If it is not then you really should adjust your keyboard, see Puppy Setup.

wifi connection with Method EAP: PEAP
Hi zion
I know see what your problem is. Method EAP: PEAP as I understand it is a method to get a very secure connection by tunnelling and others cannot intercept it. I am definitely not the person to help you with this one. Linux does support it. Ubuntu people have had problems as well and have found solutions.

I am sure that others in the Puppy forum can help.
Best of luck.

That's an advanced form of wifi encryption generally referred to as "WPA Enterprise".zlon wrote:then i see a menu:

The different Network Wizards used in Puppy to date cannot handle this type of encryption, however the recent "PeasyWiFi" application should be compatible. PeasyWiFi is discussed here -
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=94501
a new version is due to be released shortly.

Are you using a USB or PCMCIA adapter? I'm not seeing it in your output, just your ethernet device.
If it's USB, please post the results of...

Russian Precise Puppy runs PeasyWifi too.
PeasyWifi in CCCP, euh no, in Russia
It's a frenchy tutorial with russian windows, everybody however should understand, it's so simple..
