Updating flash player manually for Precise Puppy 5.7.1

Goto http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/

Download the "rpm" version then, use PeaZip to Extract the Mozilla plugin(libflashplayer.os)

from the "rpm" version pack.

Find the libflashplayer.os which is at Mozilla/plugins and replace it with the new one.

And install the "rpm" version.

That's it. :)

I am using tahrpup-6.0.2, not Precise but my comments are relevant I think.

Neither XArchive nor PeaZip produced the stated results.
Xarchive did not unarchive the .rpm.
PeaZip did but the filetype was .cpio, When I did have success installing getflash (see below), I found the file has an .so extension, not an .os

PeaZip did but the filetype was .cpio
You needed to open the cpio with PeaZip to get the libflashplayer.so.

I noted: this was with Precise Puppy 5.7.1 because I know Distos can and do differ.

Some will not take the "rpm" : I just put it out as something that could be tried.

I should have noted "always back-up your set-up before playing with it"

The standard tar.gz won't cause you or Pup any trouble.
