Bullshit doesn't die out on the web, it accretes like barnacles do. Nothing that's ever been posted on the web is ever forgotten. Search engines like Google keep every stupid thing ever posted anywhere on the web alive and available. For instance, Judith Durham's height is listed as 3 feet 5 inches on every website that talks about her, despite that figure being clearly ridiculous. Even her Wikipedia page says she's 3'5" tall.
