Welcome to puppy internationalzephyr2 wrote:Finnish translation project and language pack can be found here: http://www.keijos.arkku.net
If you want to build official language packs search on
Barry's old blog for
momanager
and/or
langpack
Nice to read that puppy is going to bark in Linus Torwald's language now

Barry Kauler's moManager app has most of instructions built-in.
All entries need to be filled in or a confusing error is reported.
A devx file is needed to be loaded
I see a button at the bottom of MoManager's window to construct a
Language pack. Hopefully more good instructions....

I have put together a utility that I find very useful. It helps
translate mo files quickly, and it also checks the contents of
mo files quickly.

Re: Finnish language pack
I have found:zephyr2 wrote:Finnish translation project and language pack can be found here: http://www.keijos.arkku.net
Kielipaketti: langpack-fi-0.4.pet (koko noin 4,5 mt, 23.02.2013).
momanager would name the package automatically this way:
langpack_fi-20130223.pet
Is there a reason to not name the package like this

[edit 2013-04-26] Now I see: you did not use momanager

... and I had to
mv /usr/share/applications /usr/share/applications.in
mv /usr/share/desktop-directories /usr/share/desktop-directories
edit petspecs
Re: Finnish language pack
Hi, when I started translating I was using Lucid Puppy, there was no momanager in it and I did not know that such thing even exists.. Later when I read about momanager, I tried to find where to download and install it, but did not find.L18L wrote: momanager would name the package automatically this way:

Later official Puppy versions seems to need pae-support, which my old laptop do not have. From forum I found non-pae version (called Upup Precise 3.8.3.1), installed it and tested some days. There was momanager in menu, but it did not start, needed "something", I do not remember what it was, dev.. something. And that time I did not have time to search what and where and why should be installed to get momanager working.
That is the reason why I did not use momanager =)

Thanks for the explanation.zephyr2 wrote:..From forum I found non-pae version (called Upup Precise 3.8.3.1), installed it and tested some days. Good choice
... here is the devx: http://www.smokey01.com/pemasu/UpupPrec ... .8.3.1.sfsbecause pemasu wrote:I provide this build as non-PAE alternative for Precise Puppy.
Just try it please (download to /mnt/home and load it by "SFS Load on the fly").
And if you are missing anything in that new langpack
then you might fill your /usr/share/doc/langpack-template with the missing files
and repeat "create langpack" in momanager.
For example,
I have copied /root/spot/README.txt to
/usr/share/doc/langpack-template/root/spot/LIESMICH.txt
(LIESMICH is README translated)
and translated the content of that file
This way all the translation can co-exist in one installation.
imagine a user likes to have Finnish and German

Re: Finnish language pack
Momanager didn't like my full hd installation.. Have to test more later.L18L wrote: ... here is the devx: http://www.smokey01.com/pemasu/UpupPrec ... .8.3.1.sfs

momanager needs to run on frugal installationzephyr2 wrote:...Momanager didn't like my full hd installation...
( should be added to the documentation )
Do you have the ability to install frugally? That would be the easiest way for now.

please try this latest momanager please.
It has no restriction on frugal install only.
Best is to start it from terminal:
Code: Select all
