Hi. I'm about to buy a very nice (and cheap) probook 6455b and i searched on google for compatibility with linux and didn't find anything relevant. Also checked the puppy laptop thread but nothing. The user manual says it's certified for SuSe Linux Enterprise Desktop 11.
The machine is a phenom ii x2 n620 @ 2.8gHz.
Video is ati 4250.
Ethernet is Marvell Gigabit Ethernet PCI controller
Wireless:
Broadcom 4322AGN 802.11a/b/g/n Wifi Adapter
or
Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n
Any feedback?
I don't know if this should be in the hardware section... i'm not sure if it's for reporting compatibility or for questions...
thanks
Any feedback with Puppy on a HP Probook 6455b?
A lot of Puppy versions will probably work OK.
Should have good results with:
Lucid Puppy 528.005 (good for new user, has lots of help)
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=70855
Slacko Puppy 5.3.3
http://01micko.com/slacko.html
However, there are many more versions that should work on this computer.
Lots of variety in the forum section "Puppy Derivatives". Just choose one that is a version 5 or higher.

Only thing that might be an issue is the Wireless:
Broadcom 4322AGN 802.11a/b/g/n Wifi Adapter
or
Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n
Seems to be a moving target, supporting these Broadcom devices.
However, a lot of improvements have been implemented to support Broadcom devices, so you may not see any problems.
If you do, plenty of solutions posted on forum to correct any issue.
I only point this out, because you asked.
Final thing.
Not all versions of Puppy work on all computers.
However, there are a lot of versions. One, if not many, will work. For the most part, many do.

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

different distros have different functions and appearance and a lot is which one you prefer/get used to, like the desk top picture
with a bit of practice you can down load and burn a distro in half an hour, so can try as many as you like untill you settle on one you like
the latest is 5.28, which im using on a much inferior machine to yours and its great, but i had another one that just wouldnt recognize the internet, so i tried another and it did, so just jump in give it a try
