How to Get ".Config" for ReCompiling Puppy 525/8 Kernel ?

#1 Post by night_mare007 »

Hi,
As some of you know - One can reCompile his puppy v525/v528 's kernel using "kernel_src_L4-2.6.33.2-patched.sfs" as published at the official release post.
As far as I can tell - both versions uses the same kernel version: 2.6.33.2

The BIG question remains - How to get a copy of the original puppy's ".config" file ( the configuration file ) of the compilation program ? :?:

In the forum there are many hints on how-to compile the kernel - but non of them publish the actual ".config" file.

P.S -
I've recompiled once this kernel, and used a odd ".config" file which gave me a LARGE size output kernel and many modules NOT being built in into the VMLINUZ kernel file ( which enlarged my 3fs personal-file-storage of course ).
It worked - but use a LOT of space. :?

.config for the kernel is usually included as /etc/modules/DOTconfig????????.

Lupu5.2.5
/etc/modules/DOTconfig-k2.6.33.2-27MAY2010-LUPU-SMP-TICKLESS

As funny as this my sound.... The last time I complied the kernel - I've run "make mrproper" and then started to look for the ".config" file.... which of course was deleted because of the command I ran before it.

I found the ".Config" under "/usr/src/linux-<kernel-version>/" and Used it to recompiled What I needed !

BIG THNX !
