Bug: Grub and Grub4Dos not working in 5.2.8

#1 Post by strategic_thinker »

I have been using 5.2.5 for quite a while. I installed 5.2.8 (clean/wipe). But I found that the Grub and Grub4dos installers don't work. Yes, I can go in hack the necessary file. But that's not the point. Please treat this as a bug report. I reverted to 5.2.5. The Grub and Grub4dos installers work fine there.

Machine: Dell Dimension, Intel P4, 2.8 Ghz (Northwood), 2GB ram, Nvidia FX 5500.

Greatly appreciate if you can fix.

Thanks and regards.

If you supplied the hack you used, it would make the developer's job easier.

Also, more information than "not working" would be helpful.

I just used Grub4Dos bootloader config in Luci 528 to set up a flash drive and it worked fine.

I did not "hack" :) .

When one runs the install, it tells you to enter the 5.2.8 specific text into a *.lst (I think) file. I did not want to do that. That's what I meant.

When I tried the Grub and Grub4Dos installers, they did not work. In 5.2.5 either program handles the bootting up OS choice with ease.

Once again, exactly how did they "not work"? Are you installing to a hard drive or a flash drive? Are you doing a full or frugal install?

Submitting a "bug report" with zero details helps no one.

Sorry ! My bad.

I re-installed 5.2.8 and was successful in installing grub4dos. No issues.
I must have hit some wrong buttons.

Thanks and regards.
