Macpup 525 & Macpup 528 & 528v2
I'm running the completely stock MacPup5.2.5 right out of the box. I was thinking that the version of FireFox is different than the 4.0 version .pet that can be installed by clicking the globe icon on a new install of puppy5.2.5, but I have the same problem when I installed Chromium.
I tried fresh installs of both MacPup and Puppy5.2.5 and there is something different for sure, but I can't imagine what it could possibly be. Is JWM different than what is used on the stock Puppy5.2.5? The only variable seems to be the desktop managers.

I have uploaded the first updates for macpup 525 to my macpup page. These install just like the other macpup updates. After you download them ,save them. Then use the exit menu to switch to jwm ( turns e off ) .Then install the updates. Wait a few seconds, then use the exit menu to switch back to e.
They are the Macpup525-update-01.pet and the Macpup-dev-update-01.pet if you have the Macpup-svn-full_DEV-01.pet already installed. I will have a updated set of extra modules tomorrow but the current one should still work.

This is cool even if they did 5.2. "Macpup: the small GNU / Linux with a big heart"

I have also made a update for the install script in petget for macpup that handles the icon issue Iguleder was talking about . So that when you install modules and other things in e17 that have .desktop files the icons don't get changed by the install script. Download the petget-update.tar.gz . Unpack it and follow the instructions in the folder to install.

Nice
Good stuff, this Macpup 525. First Puppy in a while with no DSL connection challenges for me. Never tried Enlightenment, but the desktop looks good and is speedy and responsive.
I'm looking forward to trying Macpup out for my uses, but so far, so fine.

Macpup hangs
I finally decided to give MacPup a try having recently purchased the Dell D630. MacPup loaded up nicely and ran great, although it took a while to work out how to get the sound going. It's fantastic and I'd love to use it. But I'm stuck.
When I finished installing as frugal and tried to reboot, the screen went blank without asking me to saved to file or cd. After a few minutes of nothingness, I shut the laptop down (force close) to start again. MacPup was there on the boot up screen, so I chose that and all seemed good, so I tried to shutdown to create the save file, but had the same response.
Even trying to change to JWM does the same thing.
The laptop has 2G of RAM and is on a partition with 11G, so I'm sure it's not an issue of room. I already have Lucid 5.2 installed as frugal.
I'd be keen to give MacPup a good run, and it might introduce my sons to Puppy, but I'm stuck at the moment.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Bones

First try running macpup live off the cd and see if it will put a save file on that partition. If you have both macpup and lucid on the same partition it may cause problems cause they are very much alike, the vmlinuz files are the same and the initrd.gz are almost the same.If you have to use lucid cd to make a save file and rename it macpupsave-whatever.2fs .
I don't think I'll need to do this. Instead of using the shutdown button and menu, I used ctrl+alt+backspace and then "reboot". Then the screen appeared asking me to save to file or cd.runtt21 wrote:First try running macpup live off the cd and see if it will put a save file on that partition. I think it's now working.
Thanks for your quick response. I look forward to playing with MacPup some more and getting to know it better.

The Hungarian version of the huge success Macpup.
A week ago, you can download the 525Hu was, and already holds 592 downloads. This is probably one of the top Hungarian side ...
You should add this to the August Macpup520 and 520Hu and they are 29 and 26. As well as the July 87 +79.
June 16 and 122 download.
The Macpup 2011th At the end of May was the Hungarian FTP.
All in all, to this day - only in Hungarian from server - 951 downloads was.
