I thought my video crashes were related to just too many open applications...but I have been looking over the net and it seems there may be a small compatibility issue.
I can have about 3 tabs open on chrome and get a random video crash while reading news or forums. It does seem if I have more tabs or apps open that the crash is more likely. I have to reboot to clear the issue. Running a Dell Precision 2400 with 512MB memory and pentium 3.06 Ghz (recent upgrade). The crashes occured with the old processor as well. I am running a live CD and a save file. My 4.2 install is stable, although flash video glitches, but no crashes. The video is onboard, Intel chipset.

Sorry to say you're probably both better off adjusting your habits or upgrading.. it's a problem that won't be getting better with age. If you've read as I have, seems Chrome, Xorg and the 845 can't be left in the same playpen together. Normally I persisit but, fact is, I don't see a satisfactory outcome here.
