I need to type things and run things from a shell.
Where is the shell ?
Getting a Shell; controlling mouse speed.
Re: Getting a Shell
Do you mean you need to run thngs from a command line, or in a particular shell? The default Puppy shell is BusyBox's sh shell. That's what you are in when you launch the rxvt terminal or exit the window manager. There is an option to install bash, either from Puppy Unleashed or as a PupGet installation.golpy_penguin wrote:I need to type things and run things from a shell.

If that's not what you mean, please ask again.

I believe you just click the desktop, go to run, and click rxvt in FVWM. I dunno for sure, though, because I haven't used it in a while. That's where it is in IceWM, though. You can always just hit Ctrl + Alt + Backspace to exit to the commandline. Startx will bring you back to X.

Re: Getting a Shell
In Puppy 1.0.2, left click the blank desktop (bird in blue sky). The menu that pops up will have "Shells" at the top.golpy_penguin wrote:I need to type things and run things from a shell.

Barry seems to have thought of everything
Hooray, Thanks
Thanks for the help.
I was stumbling around the rxtv typing 'dir'. now I know how to use it a bit better 'ls'.
I wanted to boot partimage from usb stick and 'ghost' partitions to and from that same usb stick.
solution: use puppy usb install, copy partimage to the usb stick also
It all works.
I'm from ms land, so not used to things working properly first time and being able to block copy MBR to file, and do whatever you want with the files system.
Puppy is neat.
All I need to do now is speed up the mouse pointer..
