My ranting on alchemy is encrypted but completely open. It is hidden by being revealed. That other lobster was interested in alchemy too . . .

install kalgebra_4.4.2 using the "Puppy Package Manager". The

went OK.

However, when I started to check (examine) dependencies as
recommended,

the thing started to search all my hard disks WHICH WERE NOT
MOUNTED.

Alarmed, I immediately killed the network power and thought "What
is going on? Is there some spyware built into the system, someone
utilizing a vulnerably, or
a bug in the system?"
I have been using Puppy for some months and was starting to really
like

what I thought was a pretty secure system that would not allow
access to

my hard disks when I was connected to the web, so I am pretty
disappointed
that I now have to run it on a system without any hard disks to
feel safe.

Since you seem to be involved in the development of Puppy and I
found a post from you on the "Forum index » Off-Topic Area »
Security" page, I thought that you would be trustworthy and at
least know who to contact if a vulnerably needs fixing.

I wouldn't trust myself with a tin of sardines.
Let us hope it is something serious so the security buffs have something
to panic over . . .

Surely when you shoulder the mantle of the paranoiac, you have to take on some responsibility. It seems to me that the correspondent who confided in you deserves better, as do your rapt readers, among them yours truly.

I suddenly felt the need to install a secure OS.
I was thinking of either Pardus or Open-BSD
However Pardus was started by Turkey Govt security services.
If they had the sense they were born with, they would compromise the system,
release that for the rest of Turkey and the world and harden their version.
So not that.

Open-BSD next version should be out in a week or two.
I did not have or feel too interested in creating a primary partition.
Also my plans for world domination are perhaps best aired publicly . . .
Open-BSD will be slower than Puppy, probably too slow.
Maybe I need a tail?
