1. Luci-244 does not display an icon for the 4G thumb drive containing my pupsave file, although the drive appears to read and write correctly (changes are saved).

2. If I plug another 1G thumb drive into another usb port, an icon displays on the desk top normally. When I dismount the drive, the "mounted" symbol in the icon disappears normally, but the light on the drive contunues to flash indefinitely (more than an hour).

I have checked this out in Luci-239 and -243. Luci-244 is the only version in which this occurs.

All else in Luci-244 appears to be working well for me.

Edit:
Problem only exists in Luci-244. Downloaded and tested -245 and usb ports/thumb drives work as they should.

Yes but I downloaded that link posted above and its a repackage of debian packages

ttuuxxx, *Of course* it is a repackage of a Ubuntu package! That is what we do. That is why we are Lucid Puppy.

But compiling in the lupu environment is a secondary possibility, in cases where the Ubuntu package either doesn't work or is ridiculously large (we have seen some that go to 60MB for a 2MB programs).

In Gub4dos's menu.lst you can make a separate entry that will make a frugal install boot with no save file. However, it will work just like a clean install.

i don't think that is what is being asked for, we know how to boot into ram mode, it is now included in grub4dos if not selected via f2. what is being asked for is way to continue with your previously saved set up with an option not to save any changes on shut down/reboot. i think. correct me if i am wrong.

No. Apps like Sunbird only work with descriptive timezones.

Indeed it is.
The wish is to be able to EXIT without saving.

A lot of the things one would like to try, crop up after Puppy has been started normally - and very often the normal session would not generate significant saves. So I often try things and then have to try to back them out so they don't affect the save file.
It would be nice to be able to just exit without saving anything.

I am aware that it might be easier to be able to say "Turn saving off for this session until, either it is closed. or I say revert to the last saved (which may have been earlier in the session) and turn it back on.

There have been lots of people running into trouble who tried to use the GMT + and - and every time advice was giving to use the descriptive timezones the problem was solved. So I would say, no don't do that.

Besides that, I think it is not good to push the slimming to an extreme.
You might end with a puppy that isn't liked anymore.

Thanks Béèm, I have my fingers crossed that the Timezone issue was fixed by shinobar's instructions.

I have been using it myself Bigpup and I have got to say it is luxurious, click, click, click, done!

I am thinking we ought to call it Grub Config - Auto so the dos part doesn't confuse people.

You are correct artifus.... besides, I don't do frugal installs, I use the same HD for all versions of Puppy and just bootup from the CD drive, Puppy nicely finds the correct files it needs. Besides, for those that only use a CD to boot from and write back to, frugal would't work. So at least the function of "Save Session" or "Don't Save Session" would be a big plus to many.

In an earlier post I recounted difficulties when running lupu244 on a box where the RTC is set to UTC and I want to display the correct time in the Australia/Sydney timezone.

I have since made a frugal installation after selecting the timezone and "UTC" in the GUI. On rebooting the displayed time is still that of the RTC but if I enter in a terminal:

hwclock --hctosys --utc

the problem is solved for that session.

Has a command like

hwclock --hctosys --"$Some environment variable"

been accidentally removed from the startup scripts?

The new Wary 102 does not have this problem.

I am getting an openbox error message after installing the Petmakerplus.pet

The error message complains about 'no name' on line 203. See screenshot.
I think the ampersand has to be moved or removed (?)

Yeah it's the pet's fault. That will error JWM too. Ampersands should not be in menu entries, ie. the *.desktop file.

downloaded luci-244.iso_luci-245.iso.delta and attempted to create 245 iso
same problem as 242 to 243 and 243 to 244
run xdifference and receive instant message that iso created but have nothing
