Because they have ISO8859-15, but Luci/Lucu/LupQ, like Swiss, do not have it in /usr/share/X11/locale.
Thank you.
I had the misunderstanding that if there was one iso8859-XX they were all there.

Barry has discussed luci-240 in his blog today.
http://bkhome.org/blog/?viewDetailed=02004
So please post if you have either improvements in internet connection and sound being properly configured and persistent, or otherwise. And we will do a comparison in a couple of days. Thanks.

Yes I'm seeing the same here regarding sound muted at each boot.
On a plus note,I'm sure the sound quality has improved in 240.

240. Changing icon set in JWM works as expected except those displayed in Rox. which dont change until a re-boot. Which is odd.

Great work, it's looking good, fast, stable and just about everything works on a frugal installation of luci-240.

Pwidgets is the only application that doesn't work as it should. The opening defaults work, but many of the extra widgets will not run at all. This has been true for all luci's. Amarok isn't giving the error that I reported for 239.

Pictureviewer has some nice features, such as being able to set the wallpaper, however IMO, Veiwnior that was in 239 is a superior viewer since you are able to scroll through your images which is an important feature for the default viewer.

Cheers,
Jim

Ok, a technical jargon post

I notice in ~/.packages/DISTRO_PKS_SPECS that Barry's zzz_scripts_simple_bk-201011.pet should be installed indicated by the entry yes|zzz_scripts_simple_bk||exe. Now, I downloaded Barry's latest debugged version and it seems it is not installed on comparison of the scripts. I was going to edit the line 45 bug that he mentioned on his blog in /sbin/pup_event_backend_modprobe. It seems the zzz package is not installed

Now, I know that there have been in place custom templates for luci/lupu for quite some time but I was astonished when I opened the /etc/rc.d/sysinit script and saw that the last update was #100814 (14 August, 2010)

Since then there have been numerous updates. Many of these may improve or break luci/lupu but we don't know.

Code: Select all

#100831 fix KERNMAJ for olpc people, have 'uname -r' returning version with '_'.
#100903 rerwin: acc tx/rx added pupdial support.
#100908 rerwin: -7.5-fix modem patch.
#100911 fsckme.err filename changed to fsckme.flg. see also initNEW, init (initramfs), rc.shutdown.
#101007 Network detection improvements from shinobar.
#101012 have restored 'depmod-FULL' name to 'depmod'.
#101107 rerwin: Reset alsa card numbers, but retain wizard card assignments in alsa.conf.
#101119 /sbin/pup_event_backend_modprobe has been rewritten, repercussions here.
Only the last entry has anything to do with Barry's new 'zzz' package. (note the entry on #100703 load fbcon module: needed by some xorg drivers when exit to console (ex: nouveau). not listed above. This may or may not have repercussions with our entry in /etc/rc.d/rc.local)

Sound not working on boot, will work after alsa setup not persistant
Oh boy - my sound is persistent (once set up - did not autoinstall)

I installed Kompozer under JWM
no icon and it appeared in 3 places on the menu
Network, Document. and utility
if every program does that we will have too much clutter . . .
'fixmenus' from console makes no difference . . . seems to only be writing to openbox wm . . .

NLS of mtpaint

#1773 Post by shinobar »

Mtpaint on Luci-240 is without NLS.
The NLS verson from don is available here.
The NLS works from the desktop icon 'paint'.
But it doesn't NLS from menu just after the installation, as i previousely reported.
After restarting X, NLS works.

Gnome-mplayer with nvidia

#1774 Post by shinobar »

Luci-240
Sounds OK form the first run.
Gnome-mpayer shows sound and video with no problem including full screen with the 'nv' driver on Nvidia 8800GTX.

Tested Gnome-mpayer on jwm:
Gnome-mpayer can show full screen, but strange behavior. Needs after several click.
Replaced /usr/bin/jwm with te one of LupQ-511. No difference with the strange behavior.

EDIT: may not be strange. Needed 3 times click on the fullscreen icon on the gnome-mplayer. Short-cut key 'f' works with one press.

new mtpaint

#1775 Post by don570 »

I don't know if this is significant but I noticed that
the developer of mtpaint has been making changes.
The newest version is 3.34.59
https://github.com/wjaguar/mtPaint

Try compiling it with

Code: Select all

./configure release intl

Yes.. I saw the post... did it break timezone for you too?

I think it's deeper rooted than just the zzz pet.

I'm looking in insidious right now for clues.. zzz works fine in this version.

If you are using luci-240, please download this pet, install, and reboot.

This is a correction by Barry plus some revisions for Lucid.

01micko, With the right pet--the one that is now posted above, timezone seems OK to me in limited testing.

I never thought to click it 3 times ;-) But that is one reason Openbox is default.

Samba-client was upgraded--I bet it needs a symlink. I think I can get that from previous version.

ok, working but still sound mute on reboot (I was getting that in 240)

What's happening is that retrovol is not remembering any of my settings.. it may be independent of zzz.

Funny though, genie wasn't either but now it is, so something is fixed.
