Did the same, but I am not impressed.
The puppylinux forum is still slow.
Well, indeed sometimes rendering is quite snappy.

But, I have a big problem.
My locale is nl, so at every page I get the question if the page has to be translated. Finally I found how to disable this 'feature'.

Spell checking was also set to NL and just found how to change, but the already entered text isn't checked again. Well at least I didn't find how.
However I could add French also for spelling

Next thing to resolve: Ho to import SeaMonkey's bookmarks
As I don't see a menu bar, I wonder how to do it.

A lot of work to do for the developers.

Due to chrome cache and config chrome.
Rapidly stopped using Iron.

I have kde/Trinity running on Psid 001....but for some reason I can't get Trinity to work on Squeeze 009.Using it on Psid-001,Luci-237 and Zen-006 though.

Running sid 001 I have this strange issue.
I have the validator add-on installed in SeaMonkey.
This started in sid 001.
I don't have it in squeeze or lucid.

I think I'll rebuild this thing from Debian Squeeze, it looks good. I'm supposed to work until Sunday so I won't be very productive. Last two weeks till I get my freedom back and I need this money

I want to fix ffmpeg once for good, then the only parts that need polishing are the applications, third-party drivers (especially nvidia) and artwork, which is pretty much ready, 009 looks great.

EDIT: messing with Debian Sid is fun. My army duty starts in a month and If gposil wants to work on dpup, I'd like to embrace the Puppy Sid experiment as my pet project, a "professional" and elegant Puppy with the "release when ready" release policy

Hey Iguleder, I'm on sidpup now
I connected to net but I had to manually setup static IPs, dhcp didn't setup connection automatically to router.
I have errors on PPM too but I think it's some wget fault, it starts downloading but on like 40% of downloaded package it stops.
I'm not sure what are normal temperatures but hardinfo says temp1 50 C and ACPI therm 40C here on desktop PC.
I like gnupaint better then rgbpaint and I like the default wallpaper
I was surprised when adobe notification poped up and offered to downlaod flash, is this new in woof?
rxvt has that pink background as if it misses something.
No deadbeef?

Haven't try any dri accelerated games yet, but Xorg and system overall seems quite fast.

I'm not sure if it needs "ar" or just cpio to extract deb but we're definitely missing some utiities that extract deb packages or they're faulty

Hmm, dpkg-deb was really missing, but there's one in /usr/bin called dpkg-deb-BB-NOTUSED that links to busybox

Big surprise in sid001 with Trinity-core.
I unplugged a flash drive and did put another one in place.
I got a window in which I could open the flash drive and see the contents.
In fact, the drive is seen in konqueror media:/
Right clicking on it there is a sub-menu with 'remove safely'
Wow, nice.
Sid+Trinity takes a good direction.

Be aware of this.

It is unfair to judge a new software and post a "report" on it after only a couple of minutes of exposure to it.

* No browser can make this forum faster than the speed with which it is "broadcast". For me the forum wasn't slow during the last week or so, but it clearly gained some speed when visited from Iron. In general I would call Iron blazingly fast.

* Your "big problem" with the "Translate this page" option, is you haven't really looked at it at all. Disabling it is just a one-untick-operation. The translate service is well made, offering clever options to fine-tune where and when you want it to pop up.

* The fact that you didn't see a menu bar is not because they forgot to add it, but a design decision. This way, the interface becomes very clean and uncluttered.. All tools are gathered into one place 'Tools' (the wrench symbol)
So there you'll find the Bookmark-manager, with the "import bookmarks" function. (I use the online x-marks service to sync my bookmarks, a real liberation after so many years of struggling with importing bookmarks, no matter what browser.)

I find this arrogant, knowing you hardly took the trouble to look into it.

And lastly, your horror experience with the cache.
I've been running Iron for a couple of days now, many hours a day and yes, I saw the space in the save file slowly go down about 10 MB.
( not like your experience 15MB/minutes...)

There's an easy way to clear the cache and regain the lost space in the save file :
Tools > History > Edit items > Clear all browser data > a box pops up where you can tick/untick what has to be deleted and for which period.

I can honestly say this is the best browser experience ever. For me...and my hardware.

What worries me though is something Jeminah reported yesterday. It is based on one guy's opinion, but, if true, Iron is a scam...! Read here

pupdial reported missiing libstdc++.so.5

libstdc++so.6 was present in /usr/lib and a symlink seemed to make pupdial happy.

Alright, I want to make another build of this thing from Debian Squeeze, but with the fixes you mentioned and some other applications it doesn't have. For example, Uget is out because it pulls in gstreamer. Osmo is out because of webkit. Gnumeric is broken.

I need a small download manager, some trimming with my package templates and a new kernel. I want to compile 2.6.32.25 (or .26) without the kernel version patch, add all third-party stuff and do some good testing, so we can stick with this kernel in the long-term, as the Lupu guys and Barry did with 2.6.33.2.

Once we have those, 010 is out. The latest Woof is good.

And I also want to experiment with other window managers; Fluxbox is a good choice. I'll leave this to Sid Puppy, the new playground

Sid001. I got kernel source working for compiling acpi_call driver. I switched ati off. Laptop temp is now 37 c.
When i compiled kernel to get missing Module.symvers with all 4 core at use: "make -j4" at full speed and ati on, my laptop temp was 86 c.
Now everything is fine.

So temp problem was due to my dual graphics.
Laptop powerusage is now 15 W which is good for me and at least comparable to other puppies when my ati is off.

Hmm. Uget from pet-packages-4 is only 62 k and seems to work. I will anyway use it for iso downloads.

directory should be:
/usr/share/gnumeric/1.10.11
instead of /usr/share/gnumeric/1.10.11-1
eventhough the version is 1.10.11-1

Then it's just a matter of a few missing files from the gnumeric package and the gnumeric-common package that go into /usr/share/gnumeric/1.10.11 and subdir glade. Works good now.

Regarding Osmo, webkit is way too big - but Midori, Sylpheed and Osmo could be a good combo imho.

upnorth: does the toolbar work with this fix? I did something like that and the problem persisted. Maybe I missed some sub-directories that need renaming.

Forget Midori. Some useful browser instead. Iceweasel, Firefox, Seamonkey, Iron, Chromium, whichever is 100 x better than that lousy Midori.

And Sid001 works now really fine !!!
