The md5sum checks out for me on the printer_scanner.sfs.

If none of your hardware works, run lsmod. If you have no kernel modules - probably its not finding the zdrive.

The missing menu items have moved to the control panel - click Setup on the desktop.

I recommend creating a bootable usb stick following the instructions on the puppeee website - I rarely use ISOs, all my testing is done with USB flashdrive frugals.

Did a fresh manual frugal install of Fluppy 007 on my main Linux box, replacing 006.
Initial boot produced working sound and internet and the correct 1440x900 screen resolution.

No real problems.....everything appears to be working correctly so far.

The new control panel is really handy,puts everything in one place.

Fluppy 005 works fine.

"lsmod" outputs sizes for the following:

I am seeing some of the same problems as in a Frugal install of Fluppy 006 and zpup-005:

1. xorg failure (Fluppy 006)

2. Unrecognized hardware.(Fluppy 006)

3. Desktop switching to low power mode even though AC connected. (Fluppy 006)

4. "printer-scanner-02.sfs" is flagged as "... the wrong version for the current Linux kernel." (in zpup-005 the same happened with a different sfs and they discovered it was something related to Wary, I think)

I just upgraded my frugal install of fluppy 006 to 007 on my very recently purchased Lenovo Ideapad S10e. 006 had worked very well. This is on a 4GB usb stick.

One big oddity post-upgrade:

None of the usual desktop icons appear at the upper-left, although I do still see the OpenOffice icons and the SAVE icon and all the expected drive icons at the bottom.

There were only 3 files in /tmp/versioncleanup:
1. /etc/desktop_icon_theme (identical to new version)
2. /usr/share/backgrounds/default.jpg (tmp version is 36,070 bytes, the new one is 297,369 bytes)
3. /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin.fluppy (identical to new version)

I rebooted to see if this got "magically" fixed. It did not. I saved the tmp files in another directory in case you think the one different file would actually make a difference.

One big plus: my wireless still works - I had set it up in 006 using pwireless2. I had been unable to consistently set up wireless in lupu511 (trying many programs, perhaps not pwireless2 though). So thanks for that....

even though I swear that one of those messages that flash by during the whole booting process said 1024x600, I seem in fact to be getting native 1024x576 as reported by xvidtune.

I changed the hardware clock from localtime to utc due to several requests. I guess this helps with dualbooting other linux distros, but I'm not sure if it's better for dual booting with windows. Feedback?

I intend to leave Windows XP on the hard drive. I will personally mostly use fluppy from the usb stick, but other family members might use Windows. So, given my personal situation I would prefer it back the way it was, to local time.

Pwireless2 doesn't play well with others (there are too many ways to shoot yourself in the foot with multiple wizards) - so Fluppy only has Pwireless2.

There is an ISO for Fluppy however, just click the download link and grab it. The Fluppy06 ISO was corrupted, but 007 works.

You may want to clarify that on Page 1 of this Thread - it could be misunderstood that the 007 ISO is also corrupted.

Just a thought ...

Meanwhile, I am going to try 007 on a laptop rather than the Samsung NB30 Netbook and see what happens ... something has changed that is common to Fluppy 006 and 007 that is preventing them from working properly on my NB30.

Hi Jemimah, puplet loads to select keyboard screen. When I hit enter for US there is no response. I had this problem with another pup (can't remember name)

Not a big problem as the install is to a desktop for general interest sake, Fluppy being highly regarded.

Unless Fluppy 007 (in /mnt/home/flp-007/) is picking up the save file for Fluppy 005 (in /mnt/home/puppy005/) I don't see how it would be getting anything external.

There a four files you need for a frugal - vmlinuz, initrd.gz, flp-xxx.sfs, zfxxxxxx.sfs

OK, I didn't know that zfxxxxxx.sfs was mandatory as it is optional in the other versions of Puppy.

Does Fluppy 007 want it in the same folder or one level off as in other versions of Puppy?

I did put the printer-scanner SFS one level off but Boot Loader complained that it didn't match - is that due to the missing zfxxxxxx.sfs?
