NDIS wrapper: does it assume there is only one of each class of device?
i have two network nics [as most systems do], only one of which is functioning. found the exact .inf files that work beautifully under Windows, used NDIS wrapper to load, each time got "invalid driver file" messages, failed to discover device.
if it takes a scientist to load known devices with known good drivers, the os can't compete for the common man.
How to use my NIC?
all of the pups I have used have the same configuration tools. Simplicity [last release] Macpup Foxy 3 ditto, Macpup w/Opera. all x32 Intel. Broadcom Nextreme Gigabit onboard ethernet controller, Zonet ZEW2500P [ralink] USB Wifi dongle.
Windows uses Microsoft supplied driver for the wifi, and Broadcom supplied driver for the Broadcom. not uncommon parts.
the NDIS applet picks up the inf file and delivers an error "invalid driver file".
i note that the one distro that got both of these right on the first pass was the netbook remix ubuntu 10.04

if I could get one working, it stays. if I can get wifi working, that is preferable.
is there any common wisdom about these important issues, such as "the older the win driver the better" ? win98? win xp? win 2K ?
I started out this discussion because I read the locked driver thread here on this forum, and folks claiming they found a solution to the Ralink/Zonet dongle. so I hunted all over trying to find just a link to the driver. it really should not be such a chore if others in the community have solved it. silly really....
