@lobster

Try creating a new Firefox profile and then running the same video.

It could be that your original profile got corrupted by installing some extension or other. Or did you maybe use an older pup_save file for a later Lucid version?

Browser Installer

Browser Installer:
Wondered why there isn't a 'resume' feature for broken or interrupted downloads?
My connection was erratic and could not complete a download - I added '-c' after wget in the script and this works (continues with the last download rather than start again). I still haven't managed to complete a download yet though....
It would help if there was a check to see if the download was complete - if you quit at any time it tells you the download was successful and asks if you want to install the pet, which won't work of course. In fact I got a download complete message a couple of times, when it plainly wasn't. This happened when it was struggling to make a connection, not during actual downloading though.

I remembered where I saw this - it is a jwm problem.
If it happens again - and I could not reproduce, I will try restarting JWM rather than restarting x.

Lucid puppy 005 on VPCZ1

#85 Post by reo »

HI

glad to have found Lucid, it had the iwlagn drivers that i needed to work on my system with firmware iwlwifi-6000-4.ucode. by the way that firmware does not exist so you might consider adding it for 6000 series support.

other wise i am only having a problem with my Audio. it is very soft and the mic does not work. please advise.

i used to use the Alsa mixer to set the mic and volume on puppy. is it still available or how can i fix this problem on my machine ?

regards

Just right click on speaker icon. In box that pops up, set pcm to 75%.

Thanks for reporting keef, working on it

Already added -c option in next version (due soon), working on the resume function, well actually, with -c option just clicking the button again will resume, just need to put in a check for integrity.

Cheers

EDIT: it's fixed now, checks integrity and resumes broken downloads

intermittant Xorg on VPCZ1

#89 Post by reo »

Hi

I have Nvidia graphics and i am trying to use Xorg but unfortunately when i choose an apprpriate setting does not work.

however if i switch to for example fatdog64 and then switch back to LUPU 005 then it will detect a working config with Xorg.

how can i maintain xorg config?

Great Work

Well, it's a great work.

I've tested Luxid Puppy 005 on a virtual machine (vmware vmx) with 256 MB RAM on an ubuntu hardy linux system.

All tested is working fine - even the german keyboard is nicely set to de-latin1.

The artwork is fine too. It gives a good contrast and is good to use - even if your eyes are not so good.

The Choice of browsers works perfectly. Connecting the web works without problems (I used "NAT" in the vmware player)

Some hints for creating the vmware vmx machine:
* Create a virtual machine on easyvmx.com.
* Select the normal easyvmx (symbol on the left)
* Select as guest operating system: Generic Linux 2.6.x
* In section CDROM drive: enable disc 2. write the name of the puppy iso into the field.
* Create zip file
* unzip zip file.
* put your puppy iso file into the directory of the vmx files
* edit the .vmx file
* look for the section about the virtual cdrom . Check the filename of your puppy iso. Change ide1:1.startConnected = "FALSE" to ide1:1.startConnected = "TRUE" (this is necessary to boot from the iso file)
