see if it powersdown?
It's only big because it includes an upgrade of wpa_supplicant and dhcpcd. However the network wizard would would have to be modified for the new dhcpcd because the syntax is different.

Now that I have installed the acpid.pet the computer will reboot but hangs when I try and shut down.

I installed Barry's SNS and now I am on line. I will reboot and see if it saves the settings and connects on the next boot.

ttuuxxx I think the problem is with the wireless modem and the full installation. It seems to work ok with the frugal install. If I unplug the modem before I shut down or reboot it works properly. If I manually remove the modem driver then the computer will shut down although it does spit out a few errors.

The modem is a Netgear WN111 and the driver is ar9170usb.

Hi jemimah do you have a pwireless2 with a modified network wizard all in one pet that I could drop in, I don't have/use wireless so testing that sort of mods would be impossible.

Another problem I have noticed when using SM2. If you press the submit button after posting it gives you a preview. If you press it again then it submits it, strange. If you press it again you get a double post.

It is not happening like that with chrome.

Hi ttuuxxx

Yes it deff. works -

install - then restart X
and bingo - it's set to go.

no need to re-boot when running live (ie no save_file)

close laptop lid - puppy goes to sleep (suspends)
open lid - puppy wakes up - ready to go again.

This looks like it is the updated acpid that smokey01 linked to in his post.

many PC users will probably find it works by calling the suspend.sh

Thanks again and very best regards - Ray

ttuuxxx,
Ignore my comment re tray 'config corrupt' it was a problem of my own making.

I was testing new Startmount and we had used "&" in the menu title in dir2pet. This causes the JWM tray config manager to say "corrupt config keeping original" when setting desktops number.

Wireless problem in V3

#169 Post by TomRhymer »

I'm trying out V3, this is the first time I've tryed one of your 4.3.2 versions. I'm using an Acer Aspire One AOD-150 netbook, booting from a flash drive made with Unetbootin.

When I boot up, I can connect to my wireless network and get on the internet using PWireless. If I try the network setup, I can't connect. The wireless activity light on the case doesn't even flash. Also, after trying the network setup, I can't connect using PWireless until I reboot.

I didn't have any trouble with this in 4.3.1.

Another odd thing is when I use my netbook to view html files from my hard drive. Seamonkey can't open an html file if the filename has spaces in it.

I never figured out a sane, user-friendly way to have both coexist. You'd have to see how Barry set it up in Quirky. Personally I wouldn't add it for a "bugfix release."

I agree with DaveS that Vattery might be a good addtion.

The latest is here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=50696

However, IBAM has trouble on some laptops with non-standard battery implementations such as the EeePC 701 (however it does handle multiple batteries and other odd situations well). So I have I Vattery-retro version I run in that case. If you want it let me know and I'll package it with the script that decides which to run.

I haven't tested APM batteries, but I think it works.

Just a small thing, but it is going to catch some users out: as far as I can tell, the latest Open Office sfs on the forum is called openoffice3.2sfs4_431.sfs.
4.3.2 cant see it unless it is renamed to openoffice3.2sfs4.sfs or similar without the 431 ref.

Hi ttuuxxx,

Super job, everything appears to work fine, even Abiword spell check and printing. The updated Seamonkey is a real improvement, however, I'll probably also install Firefox. Thanks for keeping Geany. Nicoedit is OK, but it is terrible in opening multiple files.

What file needs to be changed to change the desktop font from black to white? The black font doesn't work with dark wallpaper.

I hope that this will provide support for choices of 2fs/3fs/4fs save files when Barry changes his scripts.

Thank you for the major contributions that you continue to make.

I installed my Floppy Formater 1.7 PET package which includes a man file for ufiformat.
Upon trying to type "man ufiformat" I am taken to die.net with a message of no information found.
I can open the man file for it as text, but man should be able to find local man files and it is not.
This was discussed on the forum before.
Also, the HELP button does not find over half of the local help files for programs listed in the drop down menu of HELP.
So it seems that local help files are being ignored.

Other than that, I have not found problems/bugs with V-003.iso.

It has gone again and I will have to run wizard again . . .
Anyone else getting that?

The issue I think what you guys are having is the updates that I install, the thing is when I manually edit the sfs, things like pinstall scripts don't work. So this is probably what the issue is. so I installed the 3 main updates on my testing pc and copied all the changes, could you install this pet and restart X and see if your network, sound issues are fixed or not, oh ya I wouldn't uninstall it, so probably bootup with puppy pfix=ram

Hi guys I kind of need some response to move forward, I wasted a day waiting for test results on the above pet, kind of important to fix your issues. I have no issue what so ever, my sound works out of the box, video is perfect, net is perfect no adjustments etc, Makes it hard to fix something that isn't broken so hopefully soon I'll get some results back. Thanks
