This happens when you have a weak or flaky connection. Every time the connection drops, wpa_supplicant tells dhcpcd that the interface is down. There is a work around to tell dhcpcd to ignore those messages. You need to edit /etc/dhcpcd.conf and add to the end

Regularly the connection cuts and pwireless 2 is requiring a new IP (I see this in the message on the top of the screen)

I didn't have this connection loss in 482b5 nor in any other version of puppy.

I have this on my 2 machines, the Thinkpad R40 and the Medion MD8818

Anyone else having this issue?

Thank you for the info, but note that my first trial of using pwireless 2 leads to that situation.
I never experienced this before.
There has been no changes since.

Well, you wouldn't notice with network wizard because there's no mechanism to tell you about it and it reconnects before you have an issue. With wpa_supplicant/dhcpcd it tries to rebind the IP, when it really should wait a second to see if the connection comes back before attempting the rebind.

I'm thinking of mailing the developer of dhcpcd to see if a better solution for wireless connections can be developed.

It's really strange....Firefox works, installed Arora browser.....it works. Google Chrome and Opera work.......just not Dillo and package list updates.

Your DNS servers aren't listed in resolv.conf, for some reason, only router broadcast. Add your DNS servers and I bet it works.

I attempted to edit resolv.conf with no success. Apparently resolv.conf is regenerated every time a connection is made (or attempted).

I edited resolv.conf, saved the changes, tried to connect with Dillo and tried to update the package lists with no success. Returned to resolv.conf and it was back to the original content. Attempted three times just to confirm results.....

All other browsers continue to work correctly, wget works and the package manager will download and install packages. The other 8 Puppy installs, SliTaz, Debris and Windows all have no connection problems. It's just Dillo and package list updates in 484........I'm stumped.

Ideas, anyone......

things seem to be coming along nicely.. I'll be eminating plenty of bug reports just as soon as I can make more time doing enjoyable activities (helping further technical achievements in the opensource realm, to be specific!).

I'd like to put in a request: how about reviving the usage of the .xdelta update method? Seems a shame to be paying for bandwidth for a whole new .iso every few days (a high frequency which is commendable, btw!) .. and the same for the devx.sfs? This leads one to also wonder aloud, wither the BitTorrent utilisation by Puppy Linuxers?.. I remember seeing it referred to in some now-ancient FAQ or so, back in the olden (2.xx) days

( this actually reminds of what a shame it is to see the tracker at http://tlm-project.org falling into apparent disuse-- torrents are the true grassroots-empowering method, bypassing central control and making things more affordable at the same time! The more we use the protocol for immensely righteous/legal files (linux!), the more the megacorporate jerks' arguments for DeepPacketThrottling, or whatever it's called, falls flat.)

yes jemimah is a female, I've always thought that it was really cool to that we have a female puppy developer, Its too bad that not more females would become developers.

I have Pwidgets 2.2.2 installed and the only problem I have been having is with the weather widget. It doesn't want to show after screensaver has been active.

I'm curious as to whether there is a .pet for the Synaptic Package Manager for 484?
Is it fine to dl the one from 482? (beta5, I think it was.)
I've seen the question asked a time or two since the inception of this thread, though I've yet to see a reply. Perhaps I missed it?
I'm perfectly fine with using PPM, but I rather liked the idea of an app tracking my installs.

PS: I thought I might mention, I've been using Puppy since 4.2.1, but being the non-technical sort, I haven't interfered. DPup is a treat, though. It's just so flexible!

First actual problem so far: default flac player won't play them. usr/lib/bmp/input/libflac.so is present but does not show in the plugins dialog. Dragging flac file onto beep also does not work, however same flacs play fine in mplayer.
