Remastering 4.3 Final with Dougal's Pupremaster
Thanks, Panzerkopf!
I changed naming of sfs-file to better support dpup, upup, spup, ...
Just used it once, and it worked for me. Haven't changed anything but naming of sfs-file, so use at own risk.

Added backward compatibility with old versions and different woof based versions
(as JorgenS suggested)
Now we can edit a name of compressed file (manually) before remastering(as tlchost suggested).
Note! I created it "theoretically" because haven't all versions of Puppy. Test beforehand and use at own risk.

Just to double-check... Will your latest version create a working /root/.packages folder when remastering a Puppy 431 install?? So that the package manager works in the new, remastered version??PANZERKOPF wrote:Added backward compatibility with old versions and different woof based versions

Sorry, I never use package manager. I install packages manually only.sc0ttman wrote: Just to double-check... Will your latest version create a working /root/.packages folder when remastering a Puppy 431 install?? So that the package manager works in the new, remastered version??
Thanks.
As mentioned above, this script must work theoretically, so I didn't test it scrupulously.
Did you have some problems with it?
SUUM CUIQUE.
No, just checking before I use it..PANZERKOPF wrote:Did you have some problems with it?
But I noticed earlier in the thread that you said you have made this script 431 compatible..
I wondered how - and was hoping it was the /root/.packages fix because the only issue I've had on 431 with Dougals script (aside from the name of the sfs, which you fixed nicely, btw) is that the package managers don't work in the remastered build.

Err... God I'm thick... That's a 'yes it's fixed', right?mikeb wrote:Part of the remaster checks the package manager files to see if changes were made to carry them over as normally /var remains as original.
mike

By the way, I don't use the package manager either, but still want it to work in my remastered puplets...

Pupremaster Modifications
Thanks for reworking Pupremaster, guys! I Just downloaded Panzerkopfs's script and tried it on Stardust-013. The remastered CD worked perfectly! I've been frustrated that I haven't been able to get CUPS to work right after remastering using the remaster script in Stardust (and manually moving files from root to /tmp/root and etc to /tmp/etc). This is so cool!

Remaster Script Works great with USB!
I was able to remaster my "Live USB" with the modified Remaster Script! *grins* Only issue I have is that it does not any of the Ubuntu Package Lists. It lists Puppy 5 and Quirky Packages, but nothing else. It all goes back to normal when I update the package list and then quit out of puppy package manager and go back in. Only problem with that would be if you were wanting the package manager to be 100% working on your "Live CD/USB" without the need for updating. Anyone have a fix for the Package Manager issue? It would be nice to be able to update the package manager and then make a remaster so I don't have to update the package list every time one of me "tests" goes wrong and I have to delete my save file.
Re: Remaster Script Works great with USB!
I have experienced this too, I guess because the script is not fully compatible with Quirky. Here is a work around:shadower_sc wrote:Anyone have a fix for the Package Manager issue? Before re-mastering, move the hidden directory /root/.packages to /mnt/home.
Run the re-master script, and during the process you will be offered the option to add the .packages directory back in to /temp/root/
Do this, and all will be well.
