This appears to happen with any change whether adding sfs, changing wbar, etc. It's simple to correct,as stated, with the "Re-Run First Start Wizard".

I am rolling back the Bash upgrade in the next patch, the bash changes in v4+, break alot of Puppy scripts...the streamit problem among others is caused by this change in bash....the next patch will also address the wbar/desktop icons prob when adding sfs etc...

It will also include a few tweaks and updates, including a new tray menu for Wbar access

Cheers

I have been asked whether I can include the Broadcom proprietary alias driver in Dpup, the answer is unfortunately no, as it is proprietary.

As with all proprietary drivers and such, you can install them, but legally I cannot include them in Dpup.

Hi all,

Just tested the icewm package for dpup in the puppy 5 repo (since I compiled it!) on 484beta2

Seems to work fine but will need some minor tweaking to be fully compatible with 484beta2 (tray item stuff  ). Perfectly safe to use though.

Cheers

Just did another fresh install, including all the patches, earlier today and Dillo will not connect to any site. See screenie....

For some reason the package manager also will not update the package lists....download window opens and immediately closes. But, I'm able to download and install packages(pets and debs) just fine.
Guess something doesn't like my old P3....... :)

Thanks for checking......

It's time for some sleep here but I assume there is something conflicting somewhere in the internet connection area. Strangely though, I have no trouble downloading and Firefox, Opera , Google Chrome and Arora browsers all work fine. Something with Dillo and updating the package lists is amiss though....

thanks micko. i thought that was the way but it won't work for me. i can switch to icewm and fluxbox but i when i try pekwm it just takes me back to prompt. i guess i need to try a fresh new install without maybe the bash upgrade and see what happens. as of right now after patch 5 'streamit' still takes me to prompt so maybe something is wrong with my system.

Hi sinc

Yes, what you say might fix it. Could be the bash 'upgrade' that broke it.. :(

I installed the patches but not the bash upgrade and pekwm is working fine for me. There is no panel with pekwm so you may want to install tint2 from the repo or lxpanel or something. I think I need to update the tint2 panel because it needs the config folder containing the config file in /root/.config to work. The folder is at /usr/etc/xdg. Copy it to /root/.config. Also run the fixmenus script in /root/.pekwm... it has a funny name.." manip_menu_pekwm.sh". That will fix your menus. In /root/.pekwm/start script add "tint2 &" and ensure the script is executable. That should get you going. :D

Cheers.

WOW. okay, i would never have figured that out. i guess to make it all right that stuff should either be automatic or a popup with that paragraph should come up after install. thanks again, i will try it out.

I've got another good one. I cannot install any addons to Firefox. Yes, the regular FF 3.5.7...not the Safe Browser.
Tried to install Adblock Plus and NoScript like I always do with FF but they will not install. Restart FF to install and nothing.....addons still say to restart Firefox.....

I didn't have much trouble with any of the 482 releases but I think 484 doesn't like me....

I think I am going to have to bring forward beta3 release....there are too many problems with the bash changes...

Later tonight beta3 will be up...please do not carry any settings over from previous versions, they will break it...beta3 is actually 485pre-alpha...alot of things are different...a new slate.

About problems with remastering:

I tried another version of the remaster script, which were changed by some users in here and it worked for me.

I made some changes myself,

gposil,

When will the new beta3 iso be posted? Your delta file results in an error.

Thanks,
Jim

And I only just got beta 2 down and installed. Downloading beta 3 now (http://dpup.org/test/dpup484beta3-2.6.30.5/). It looks like the size has stopped growing, so I hope it's all the way up.

Since my first class today has been canceled due to an ill professor, I think that I will go ahead and get beta 3 set up and play around a bit. :)

EDIT: Up and running. Quick question: does the Linux version of putty act as a front end for ssh, or does it include its own implementation like the Windows version?
