Comments version 004
The changelog is not too long, but great stuff has come our way. Pnetnood has been replaced by patriots lameSMBexplorer. Last update of Pnethood was in april (if I remember correct), so this is really good news. You'll find it in the Network-menu. Tasmod and 01micko has created a clever tool - Startmount. It makes it easy to choose which drives to mount at startup. It has no menu-entry, but are reachable from pcc (puppy control center). New is also trios configuration tool for setting a startup sound (and shutdown). It is deactivated by default, but can easily be set from pcc.
Stardust 004 has reached 2 new goals:
1. Service management is 'complete' (as far as it is meant to be). You can now start/stop most background processes via pcc. The new stuff is that swallowed tray apps are configurable.
2. Tray management has reached a new level. Several tools in jwmconfig2 pack has been replaced by a rewritten Ptray. It now allows user to manage/edit up to 4 different trays. You should tray it out, it is powerful, - maybe too powerful......stupid actions leads to stupid results.

There has been requests to install pcc on standard Puppy. It has now become flexible to only include links to installed apps, but it is still depending on some Stardust tools as the new Ptray. I will (in the future) release a startdust pack which includes all the modules to create a Stardust desktop. - pcc (with tools), jwmconfigs, icon-tools and rox-pinboard-tool. Pwidgets could be optional. Another issue is that Puppy 4.3 was built on Puppy 4.1, so updates (for Puppy 4.2) in theme-switcher, icon-switcher and fixmenus have not reached the official repo.
trio: I would be pleased if you give some feedback about the broadcom fix.
tasmod: I have not fixed the clock-hand-theme-bug (not forgotten).

# Added lameSMBexplorer (patriot)
# Added Startmount (tasmod, 01micko) - mount drives at boot
# Added Pstartupsound (trio) - play sound at startup/shutdown

# updated Pwireless2 (jemimah)
# updated Pseries
# removed Pnethood. replaced by lameSMBexplorer
# removed several scripts from jwmconfig2 pack. replaced by ptray
# PCC cleanup. Not hardcoded for Stardust. Should work with Puppy 4.x

BE AWARE!!!!
If you have Puppy installed, you MUST run this with the prefix 'puppy pfix=ram'. Else, the Stardust desktop will not install.

Here is the good old Stardust icon-theme updated for Puppy Stardust (thanks to 01micko)
The following list shows many items that is taken out of the iso. But, it is not as critical as it seems. Most of these are tiny apps, and you have not been aware of many of them. Simply because other apps do the job.
Aqualung has left, and Pmusic is back. Pmusic has evolved in both features and speed, so It is more a matter of longterm strategy. I hope it will be possible to build more around ffmpeg in the future. We could hopefully get rid of lidsnd, libsamplerate and maybe libxine...
Gadmin-Rsync is out as well, since it crashed on first run. I don't think Pbackup fill the backup issue completely. It would be wonderful if there exists a tiny but complete backup suit.
If you see something that you would have changed, added or removed, I will be very glad if you mentioned it. Because of my limited time, it would be best if you deliver the patch.... My knowledge of network/internet tools is close to zero, so these are nearly untouched.
Possible improvement is easy to see
- icon theme in vector graphics for space saving.
- alternative multimedia tools using ffmpeg.
- hunt more files we don't need.
- upgrade gui in some of the scripts.
- extend the control center.
- replacement of Gparted (901kb)
- boot Puppy with pfix=fsck
- compile mhwaveedit without libsndfile
- driver adds/updates
- ...
This is meant to be a full featured user-oriented Puppy....Though, I have to admit that the biggest modem drivers is removed.
