This makes the rc.network script wait half a minute before it starts. I think the problem has been that this rc.network script started before /etc/init.d/wlan finished ... is that possible?
Quite possible.
There was a user that was working with me about the problem of rc.pcmcia starting after rc.network, for example... I think these things probably need to be looked at, but that's beyond my realm of interest.

Anyway -- I've cracked the problem for me, and this is my solution:

I put "sleep 30" in a line by itself after the first line of /etc/rc.d/rc.network
I'd had the exact same problem with a hardwired ethernet connection via a pcmcia card. This fixed it for me, too.

Perhaps the PCMCIA services weren't starting quickly enough?

Hard drive install on a Thinkpad 560X with 96MB RAM :-)

The sleep 30 goes in the first available line? I have the exact same problem on a Dell 710m with internal wireless card. I go through the whole config process with the wizard, connect to my wifi router, and puppy 4.2 asks me to save the config for the next boot.

But after reboot, I must do the following:

- Menu/setup/network wizard
- Click on eth0, then the 'wireless' button
- Click on load to activate my saved profile
- Click on use this profile
- Then click on auto DHCP
- Click on yes to save for next boot
- Click OK to close the wizard

I then connect, but it is tiring. ;-)

This is exactly what I must after every reboot.

How can I autoconnect my (saved) profile?
Is this a bug with Puppy 4.2?
