Silo Cloud-Browser

#1 Post by 8Geee »

I just stumbled across this article about the Silo Browser.

Never heard of cloud-based browsers before, and apparently, this looks like a better solution to most of what ails browsers today.

I need more time to read-up here, just found this.
Anyone else heard of, or use this?

TIA

I run fatdog on one headless (no monitor/keyboard/mouse) box and use OpenBSD on another box ... that vnc's into fatdog through a ssh tunnel. It also reverse ssh mounts a folder on the fatdog system for sharing files in a controlled manner. Similar in some ways to running a cloud based browser but where I manage my own 'cloud' server.

Running fatdog browsers (seamonkey/chrome) is generally OK, only if you maximise/full screen a playing video does it start to become jerky.

More usually I run a liveCD version of fatdog, with no HDD's attached. But currently running Fatdog alpha 800 frugally installed to HDD.

Other than the vnc (screen content) dataflow through the ssh tunnel, isolates web/browser entirely from your main system.
