The filesystem on the USB drive is mounted read-only, as iso9660, preventing me from following instruction how to swap kernel.

And Windows doesn't recognize the drive.
Still, I understand I need to read up on it an, d advance my skills in this space.

Can't connect to Wifi.

Highlighting in the terminal with a mouse copies, and clicking on the mouse wheel pastes. But this only works inside terminal.

I could not figure out how to copy from terminal, but paste into Chrome window.

It seems that the clipboard is not shared.
Same applies to Ctrl-Delete/Ctrl-insert ...

I do:
Puppy Setup ->Mouse/Keyboard -> Touchpad->Touchpad mode OFF
Save,Quit

This setting does not survive reboot for some reason.
I have to repeat the exercise after each reboot.
Save file exists, and is loaded on startup, other settings are preserved.

regarding puppy only looking in USB for the save file...
The reasons I think this is not good:

1) USB may have space, but it's many times slower than my internal SSD, resulting in both unacceptable boot times, and slower execution when I access files stored in that ...

3 issues.

1)When booted off CD - it reads the save file off HDD (sdb1) fine.
When booted off USB -it only looks for that file in USB disk, skips search of HDD

2)If you boot off USB, without save file, it prompts you to create it on exit, as it should, by only gives you an option of saving it back ...

This is the same setup that I have, and it does not reconnect upon reboot.
I must run "Activate settings now".
One possible twist: I have it connecting to my mobile hotspot.
But I don't think this makes a difference - hotspot is the DHCP.

Fatdog64 does not automatically reconnect to wireless interface.
Every time after reboot, I have to operate Network Wizard(net-setup.sh) ->"Activate Settings now" to have it reconnect to my wireless access point.

It does not auto-connect.

Also, while net-setup.sh works, wpa-gui doesn't

at first, everything worked, except step 8, which gave me again

Then I removed .xlockrc and tried step 8 again - and it worked(except it complained can't find font... using fixed..), but it did lock the screen!
So, not sure what ...

Xlock-lockscreen does not work.
Prompts me to enter password.
Then gives :

Clicking the applet afterwords simply doesn't do anything. Must delete /root/.xlockrc to get the password prompt again, but then the situation repeats.

I can now close the lid,screen turns off, reopen it - and OS is alive.

Now, do you know why on 'shutdown' the screen stays up, right after 'spinning down disks..' message ?

The symptom is this:
When I close laptop's lid, and then reopen it, the screen lights up and shows me my desktop as it was - all is good so far.

But, the OS seems to be frozen and I can't wake it up - not with mouse, not with keyboard.
Must do hard reboot.
I understand that disabling suspend.sh ...

I had to hard-reboot due to OS freezing on closing of laptop's lid. This is tracked in a separate issue.

Now, upon reboot my save file was skipped, Fatdog booted without it,
and the save file shows with big exclamation mark in file browser, and with all ???? in ls -l output where ...

I will try suspend.sh, but want to edit the post a bit.

There are 2 distinct cases.
1) Laptop gets frosen on lid close-reopen.

External monitor has nothing to do with it - it's not attached in this case.
The symptom is this:
When I close laptop's lid, and then reopen it, the screen lights ...

On shutdown: gets stuck at this message:
Spin down disks..sda sdb sr0

Nothing shows after that. Have to do hard shutdown.
Not a show stopper, but thought it'd be useful to track it.
