I have a Broadcom wireless in my Dell D620, and Ubuntu / Xubuntu / Kubuntu has a driver for it.

For a laptop with dual core CPU, I would be using Ubuntu Linux not Puppy Linux.

I have Googled, and I have only been able to find how to install Puppy via PXE.

What I am looking for is the reverse. I want to make Puppy be a server.

Any tutorials?

I did a complete re-install of Puppy Linux 4.3.1 on the hard drive, and now it picks up the internet just fine. I didn't have to do anything with the resolv.conf file.

I also had a PCMCIA LAN card that I knew was Linux-compatible that wasn't being recognized; after the re-install it was.

I found it by running the command ipconfig on my Windows XP laptop connected to the same router as my IBM Thinkpad 600E running Puppy Linux. So that number may be different for you.

Just thought I'd confirm;

On my TP 600E, with the 4.3.1 live CD, I could only get past the "pup-431.sfs not found" error by using F2 followed by "puppy acpi=force". But had to do the "puppy acpi=force" every time I booted, even when using the save pup files at shutdown.

I have removed the checkmark next to Single Click Navigation, and programs on the desktop still open with single click.

There was already a opera.desktop file.

I tried running fixmenus in console and restarting X, but that did not work.

I gave up since I got an error when trying to run Opera.

I was able to successfully download and install Opera 10.50.

However, it did notify me that a menu item was not created. How do I do this? I have Googled and searched this forum and have not found an answer.

My sister gave me back this laptop.

I want to install Puppy on it; it currently has Windows 95.

No CD drive just floppy.
