Well I started out with Lucid 5.25, which I think was the latest and greatest, but for the life of me I couldn't get this version to see either PCMCIA card that I tried. Other people have commented that they have no problem with 5.25 so I assume that there is something else going on with my ...

I received my Netgear WG511 today ...
So now that I've got these XP files extracted is there a way to share them with the next guy? I assume its just the XP.SYS and INF that need to be available.

There are actually 4 dfferent versions of the WG511. The chipset inside them makes a lot of ...

Vickie,
I got a question, is there any reason for you to keep the worst operating system ever written by anyone (Windows ME) on that machine? If not you can save any data you want to keep from it and wipe the disk and make that a Puppy machine if you want to. Just think no more "BSOD" Heh Heh Heh ...

I have a Broadcom wireless in my Dell D620, and Ubuntu / Xubuntu / Kubuntu has a driver for it.

According to http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p= ... stcount=10 the Xircom needs xirc2ps_cs module.

For wireless card, always check on eBay. Since all of the new laptops have wifi built-in, you'll often find inexpensive PCMCIA cards being sold on eBay.

Re: Driver for 3CCFME656 B PCMCIA Card

Hi,
I'm new of Puppy.
I have installed Puppy Linux 2.16 on my old HP Omnibook 4150 (pentium II, 128 MB RAM; 5GB HD).

It works very well and I'm proud of it.
Now I must configure my network device.
I saw that drivers are no present. I tried to load drivers with auto and specified Load Module of the ...

I have Googled, and I have only been able to find how to install Puppy via PXE.

What I am looking for is the reverse. I want to make Puppy be a server.

Any tutorials?

I did a complete re-install of Puppy Linux 4.3.1 on the hard drive, and now it picks up the internet just fine. I didn't have to do anything with the resolv.conf file.

I also had a PCMCIA LAN card that I knew was Linux-compatible that wasn't being recognized; after the re-install it was.

Can't ...

Thank you. That worked.

In that same discussion Béèm suggested running Roaring Penguin PPPoE, but that did not work for me. I use Verizon DSL which is apparently PPPoE and I know my username and password. Can you explain why it fails?

Helgan,

My nameserver is 192.168.1.1
I found it by running the command ipconfig on my Windows XP laptop connected to the same router as my IBM Thinkpad 600E running Puppy Linux. So that number may be different for you.

Hope that helps.

I cannot ping.

The other computer on the router is a Windows XP laptop, and it works fine.

I tried

Code: Select all

dhcpcd eth0 -k
dhcpcd eth0 -n
and I got an error message
fopen '/etc/resolv.conf': To many levels of symbolic links
when on the second command.

What do I do now?

Re: pup-431.sfs not found

Just thought I'd confirm;

On my TP 600E, with the 4.3.1 live CD, I could only get past the "pup-431.sfs not found" error by using F2 followed by "puppy acpi=force". But had to do the "puppy acpi=force" every time I booted, even when using the save pup files at shutdown.

I also have a TP 600E.

There was already a opera.desktop file.

I gave up since I got an error when trying to run Opera.

Thanks anyway.

I was able to successfully download and install Opera 10.50.

However, it did notify me that a menu item was not created. How do I do this? I have Googled and searched this forum and have not found an answer.

I want to install Puppy on it; it currently has Windows 95.

No CD drive just floppy.

Please point me in the general direction.

Thank you in advance.
