3 issues.

1)When booted off CD - it reads the save file off HDD (sdb1) fine.
When booted off USB -it only looks for that file in USB disk, skips search of HDD

2)If you boot off USB, without save file, it prompts you to create it on exit, as it should, by only gives you an option of saving it back to that USB, does not offer other partitions (which it sees fine, and can mount fine)

3)When booted off USB, it shows drive icons at bottom left, for each of my partitions.
When booted off CD, it does not. Only shows 1, where savefile is.
I can still find them all in "mount" application, but it's annoying.

Huh? This part always worked before in all other puppies.

isolinux.cfg/syslinux.cfg:

CD:
append initrd=initrd.gz pmedia=cd

USB:
append initrd=initrd.gz pmedia=usbflash pfix=copy

To find and use the save file, on the hard drive, with the live USB Slacko.

Try this:

Look on your flash drive for the file syslinux.cfg.

On the line append initrd=initrd.gz pmedia=usbflash

Change pmedia=usbflash to pmedia=cd

When booted off USB -it only looks for that file in USB disk,

USB installs are setup to only look for the save on the USB, because most people want the USB to be able to be used on other computers.
Keeping everything on the USB is a way to do that.

Also, it allows you to use Puppy and not place anything on the computer.

Puppy does not use much of the USB drives free space , so why not use what is there for Puppy save files/folders.

Sure you got a good Slacko iso file image burn to the CD?
Burn at a slow speed? 8X or less?
No dirt or scratches on the CD?

-yes, CD is good.

regarding puppy only looking in USB for the save file...
The reasons I think this is not good:

1) USB may have space, but it's many times slower than my internal SSD, resulting in both unacceptable boot times, and slower execution when I access files stored in that personal savefile.

2) If I want to take my save file with me, i will copy it to that USB, why not just prompt the user where he wants it, the way puppy always used to do, or let the user do it afterwards, manually.

3) The behavior you describe is not documented anywhere, if fact the opposite is documented: that puppy searches all drives and presents you with a choice of savefiles.
