i suppose i can't
just kidding, for have attention on this post with title.
i have no idea how to change language encoding to show me ce1250 characters, i.e. in subtitles, and other applications, by default?
it's characters from serbian, croatian or bosnian language (it's sort of the same language, ex-yugoslavian), and they will not to set up by default when i choose ie croatian on start.
it's problem with latin variant, not cyrillic, cause most of the subtitles for movies are in latin.
tnx in advance.
btw, version is 5.2.5., and in every application says "cp1250 is not supported".
how to solve this?

That is actually very funny!
You could record the barks of a dog that has been brought up since childhood in a family of the needed language. And you could use that instead of the default sounds.
For example, we in French Canada teach our dogs to bark "ou-ouf, ou-ouf" with accent on the last syllable!

You could also create a melody using little dogs for high notes and big dogs for low notes, and medium-size dogs for middle notes.
On a serious "note": As to helping with your problem with character set 1250, I do not know anything about it, unfortunately.
Good luck.

I don't know if this helps?

Translations to Croat are possible with PDict, I believe, but you'd need to find out if anyone is working on the issue
Barry K has recently done a new script IIRC

Try PMing him directly....or via his Blog

no, you don't understand, i don't need translation, i need to show all the characters in subtitles and texts automatically, and now, for ce1250 are missing 2 of 5 non-english characters (for latin version), and it's very confusing set up and understanding (for cyrilic version).
maybe is good, if you want to develope stronger your os, to open here subforum for this localization, and everything about it,
cause it's a market of about 30 milion people in all ex yugoslavia states.
as you wish.

perhaps if you post to some of the language posts at
http://bkhome.org/blog/ he may be interested in helping when he gets back from holiday. he has spent a lot of effort on language stuff in the recent past.but be sure you have all the latest stuff before you ask. it may already be fixed.

It wasn't that I didn't understand, I was merely suggesting something I thought might help, especially the link to Barry's Blog
I know that Shinobar posted about this problem in lupu, which I believe requires Latin 2 fontset [ISO8859-2] and maybe linked to a problem with nvidia drivers not showing the whole screen

http://linux.about.com/library/cmd/blcmdl7_charsets.htm
As for pop-up text boxes with 2nd language showing, I think someone would have to code that separately, as I haven't seen it used - but if it's just missing fonts, then try adding fontsets
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=7111
Barry is definitely your best bet, if you can explain exactly what you need to achieve or if you have a screenshot of something similar - but as aarf says, you'll need to wait for him to return from holidays.....

@aitch, @aar,
i looked at all the links you gave me, and i'm thankfull for your interesting, but i don't understand nothing.
i'm totally open for suggestions for this issue from anyone, the owner, users, or whoever, to tell me on pm or here.
and i'll try to simplefy all of this:
when i start movie, characters don't show correctly, in ex-yu (bosnian, serbian, or croat) language subtitle.
how to settup encoding combinations (in mplayer ie) to work properly?

@aarf, i don't see the point of posting screenshot cause every interface of programs is ok.
but here's something better for understanding, subtitle of the movie 'inception' in croat language:
http://hr.podnapisi.net/static/podnapis ... ca921c.zip
when i open as text, there are distorted 5 characters, which are non-english. and they apear distorted or funny in the movie. but when open the same file in windows, every letter is ok.
@aitch, tnx for the tip, i'll try it one of these days.
