Gmail not working with latest chrom* pets in Puppy 528
I am using Puppy 5.2.8. Gmail does not work when I install the respective browsers with these pets.

Chromium 16 -> http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pe ... -Lucid.pet
Google Chrome 14 -> http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pe ... -Lucid.pet
Here is the error reported on the screen when I try to go to https://gmail.com

Error 202 (net::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID): Unknown error.
It happens with all the three browsers. Firefox and Opera work fine.
Thanks and regards.

The problem is much more widespread than many people realize.strategic_thinker wrote:No. Gmail is not fine with these browsers. The point of my bug report was to inform that gmail did not work with the specified versions. I dont agree with your assertion about the 202 error.
Yes. It does work with earlier versions.
A couple of weeks ago I install Firefox 8.0 on 5.2.8.
Gmail and flash caused major problems. Either crashes, or some scripts were running in an endless loop. When I unloaded flash, some of the problems went away, but Gmail still did not work properly or not at all.
After a couple of days I downgraded to Firefox 7.x. Those particular problems went away. I still get flash crashing when the network link goes down (sometimes.)
I had similar flash related problems with several of the Chromium versions.
Currently I am using Chromium 10.0.630.0 and Firefox 7.0 . The browsers are acting satisfactorily, but not perfect. Gmail is not a problem on these versions..

Interesting. We're not having any problems around here with Gmail in the very latest Seamonkey... only Facebook seems to be causing a problem.
But I do recommend Gmail's "basic html" mode - it's even a usable speed

Interestingly, I am using Chromium 15.something with Xubuntu, and it asks for a root password first time it is loaded after each re-boot. My guess this is part of the problem, though I dont really see how to tie it all together with Puppy.
Have you tried running it as user spot? su spot chromium-browser I think is the command
