This program is depreciated and should no longer be used.
Use instead the translation utilities listed here:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 456#173456
They take care of the new XD menu system of Puppy.
--------------------------------------
This program translates an existing Puppymenu (/root/.jwmrc) to another language.
A german translationfile is included.
New: vietnamese (thanks to phantrongnghia for the contribution!).
New: french by gw

New: spanish
New: italian:
http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?t=12254
New: bulgarian
New: russian
To add your own language (example: french):
Copy
/usr/local/Puppymenu-translator/resource/de.lng
to
/usr/local/Puppymenu-translator/resource/fr.lng
Then edit it, and replace the german words with french ones.
Very simple, it looks like this:
Code: Select all
Control Panel***Kontrollzentrum
Utilities***Hilfsmittel
Setup***Einstellungen
File managers***Dateimanager
Then restart the translator, it will list "fr" automatically then.
This large screenshot shows the translator in action:

If anything should go wrong, you can restore your last.jwmrc at the start of the translator.
In addition it creates a
/root/ .jwmrc-international-englishbackup
This is created once at first start, and will not be overwritten again.
So you always can restore manually by renaming it to .jwmrc
If you create own .lng -files, please post them here, so that I can add them

Open it in leafpad.
Choose "save as". There is a small option to save as ISO or UTF8.
Choose UTF8, then it should work?

I just finished the Bulgarian version of the file.
The file is done for Puppy 2.12 - I added the new default programs and also Games, some DotPups. I tryed to organize the file a little bit for easy edit.
It could be used for another translations.
I'll try to refresh the file in case of a new Puppy versions...
Thank you.
P.S. Anyone can help me to install a Bulgarian keyboard layout on Puppy 2.12? Thank you in advance.

I didn´t see Bulgarian layout in Puppy (I´m using 2.13). But you can choose RU successfully (don´t know if Bulgarian layout is the same as Russian). In 2.13 I went though Mouse/keyboard Setup Wizard and added Russian keyboard, then chose swich keys, confirmed OK, that´s it! By the way, I used your bg.lng.zip file to modify menu in Russian.

The menu translator works great. However, I use Puppy 2.14 and I see that there are some differences between the menu entries in my .jwmrc and the ones in the translate-menu package. So, I tried this:
Code: Select all
cat .jwmrc | grep label | cut -d \" -f 2 > /usr/local/Puppymenu-translator/resource/pt_br.lng
The effect: it gets the names of all menu entries in my current .jwmrc and copies them to /usr/local/Puppymenu-translator/resource/pt_br.lng (I'm currently translating it to brazilian-portuguese). Then I start to translate (typing *** and the translation, as described above) and run translate-menu.
I'm very interested in the localization of puppy. Maybe we could create a few more tools to translate it.

Hi!
I find, where the problem with some of submenu.
In Puppy 2.17 in /root/.jwmrc the submenu:
Fun*Bubbles, Gemgame, Gtkfish is write with error (empty space in end)/
The ShutDown*Restart JWM in this file have not status "Program".
I solved this problem, changing the menu of .jwmrc in Russian.
