Mine takes 2:44 from pressing the power button until I see the desktop.
Is this about average?

Using Lucid Puppy 5.2.8 Release AUG 17 2011, It takes my laptop 1 min 40 secs from power on to desktop for pfix=ram (default) Live DVD.

There are various things which will affect the booting of ANY OS.

• Amount of time PC spends in POST
• Size of the kernel
• Size of the distro
• whether "save-sessions" are available and being accessed
• Amount of memory
• Speed of the media drive
• Processor (s) used at boot time
• etc.
