I saw something that struck me as odd. A Linux Puppy forum thread about an American Presidential election 2 years from now??? Wow.
I am so totally against this here, an International forum. But, what is there to do???
I know, since some well meaning person thought it appropriate to bring this garbage here, THEN some other well meaning person, can put the corollary here as well and let the American have their war of words, while the rest of us go on our way with International Harmony!
So if you find it important or appropriate. You can show how un-educated Mr. Trump really is.....here.
I vote that its appropriate for any President to lead their nation with International concerns....like EARTH DAY! This is the educated right thing to do.
Further, I vote that Donald Trump shows how utterly ridiculous he is when trying to tell America that there President is NOT American...you know....that whole Birth Certificate thing. His campaign is on "Who is entitled to be President?' This was just plain stupid! Any who would want him for a President....You're Fired@!
You're joking right. You want a guy who builds buildings for Family forture to run your country. What a ridiculous idea. But, you did elect a 93 IQ to run your country in 2000, didn't you. Now look at the mess that's caused.
Go for it....I won't challenge you....Not here....not in a Linux Puppy forum....no not even here.
I hope the rest of us are smart enough to not let the Americans ruin this forum. We don't need that brand of "Off Topic".
the BAD behavior and poor selection of placing this here raises the fur for all the rest of us. We don't need it. I'll bet that if Superman was real, he'd renounce his US Citizenship and join the rest of us in the world.

Actually less than two years. Debates for the Primaries are starting up soon. This is how people get to know the candidates, and choose who will be the opponent of President Obama. So it is very relevant here in the US.
I am so totally against this here, an International forum. But, what is there to do???
I see a lot of international members commenting on US policies here. You should be totally against that too. The title of this sub-forum is "Truly off-topic conversations" no one here is violating that. You are not forced to click on any thread here if you don't want to. Knowingly clicking on something you know will upset you, doesn't make it the forums fault, but your own.
I know, since some well meaning person thought it appropriate to bring this garbage here, THEN some other well meaning person, can put the corollary here as well and let the American have their war of words, while the rest of us go on our way with International Harmony!
Again you are not forced to read anything. This sub-forum is "Truly off-topic conversations" You clicked on the threads in it. I just learned that it is a sin to International members that Americans debate politics.
So if you find it important or appropriate. You can show how un-educated Mr. Trump really is.....here.

For being an International member, you sure had an opinion on American politics. You don't want that stuff here, then you go and do it yourself.

american politics, which is surely only understood by the mentally ill, is only appropriate in forums devoted to discussing it and other delusions
thus appropriate in linux forums

*shrug* I didn't vote for Braindrain Bush either time. I'm one of about three Democrats I know within a twenty mile (a touch over 32km) radius. My best friend is best described as politically confused, and votes a straight Republican ticket, per family tradition, instead of trying to decide who he thinks is best for the job and voting for them.
IMNSHO, if you're going to vote, do your homework -- make an educated decision, not an ignorant decision.
My own opinion on politics (and, to a lesser extent, on religion and politics):
A lot of people these days vote for who yells the loudest or who slings the most mud. Since ineptitude seems to have a distinct inverse correlation to volume (that is, the smarter people are quieter) we tend to have a lot of people in charge of our government who really don't know how to do what they're supposed to.
Many of these people seem to believe that their primary goal in governing is to completely bungle what the original Founding Fathers believed in... you know, things like freedom of religion and freedom of expression. What they want appears to be a combination of two things: (1) power in their hands and (2) "morals" that they specify, but only when it's convenient for them.
More on the second item there. A lot of politicians in this country seem to be rather hypocritical. They have read one book in their entire life (apparently enough to memorize parts of it) and they want the rest of us to live by that one book -- whether or not we want to -- even though they're not much of an example.
Although I will admit to being religiously confused, I will say that my mother considers herself a Quaker. Quakers tend to ask and listen instead of preaching to others. They are willing to admit that there are things that they don't know, and they will ask first, and act accordingly.
As for my own beliefs, what I usually tell people is that I can appreciate the beauty of Nature without requiring there to be a Central Planning Department behind it
I'll get off the soapbox now and let someone else have a turn.

I have all those qualities.
But will bugman vote for me?
And I wasn't born in Hawaii.
It's all so hard...maybe they'll give me a job at the palace.

To be perfectly fair, self-described Tea Party types have never shown real intellectual vigor or even hinted at a coherent political doctrine. They're the socio-political equivalent of an old man- who may or may not have a shotgun somewhere nearby- rocking to-and-fro on his porch under a hand-painted sign that reads, "No Solicitors!"
Regarding my own opinions, I'm more or less a Libertarian, so I pretty much despise both major parties in the US. They're both packed with authoritarian simpletons, yet they all insist that they're drastically different, usually based upon which side of the room their assigned seats are located.
Politicians are people who, for whatever reason, march out perennially and (1) try to get everyone to like them, (2) make an indignant scene to portray themselves as passionate, or (3) more overtly express a desire to lord over fellow humans and amass power. There is always something desperately wrong with people like this.
Finally, Trump. Don't worry, no one will elect him. He's amusing, occasionally offensive, just barely famous, and he has that hair, so the media is having a ball covering his bumbling antics, and the longer they can keep it a story, the more ad time they sell. Trump himself is probably just doing this for the publicity, too; he's real needy like that.
Finally, I feel it's worth noting that even if Obama were not born in the US (he was), I can't fathom why
anyone would want to point that out. Presumably, Biden would then take over, and Biden is so very frighteningly clumsy.

well when it comes to the USA elections, its kind of a worldly issue/debate these day, my example is that I like watching the news here in Australia and pay $100 for foxtel sat tv, most of the news is USA based, sure we have one Australia news channel but it only has about 1hr of news a day mixed with 50% spots and usually its just replayed, so then I watch foxnews which is USA, its not just going to be a long 2yrs for you guys in the USA, It will be a long dragged out election in Australia, they talk about it even on the newstalk am radio stations in Sydney. Really I think one one the presidents should make a stature to have a limit of 6 months, really it doesn't help Obama to start thinking of the next election while he already has a lot on his plate. I just think its 100% crap/arrogant of the politicians to think that they should put this on the world plate and make us all live withs this sort of crap every 2 yrs and drag it on for like 2yrs, Heck 1 month ago they had a vote for Confidence in Canada and prime minister harper lost, and in within 2 months the Canadians will be back at the polls, 2 months not 2years. grrrr
As for Donald Trump, or should I say Donald Duck, he is a bit of a quack, lol. Listen there is a very good chance if he goes for it, he would win and the USA would be govern by an Iron Fist for the first time since Ronald duck/Reagan. Donal is a very extreme type of individual with a nutty since of judgment, like when he said if he was president and went to war in the middle east that he would take over the oil fields, I really don't think the United Nations would ever go along with that, I could see major sanctions in place on the USA if one of their leaders did do that. But what I think is fair is that place that do have lots of oil resources like Iraq, Libya etc and get liberated from tyrants that they should pay back the cost to nations that liberated them without interest, Interest would be a killer to any nation trying to build a new name for them. Say like over a 10yr period.

Perhaps one of the Canadians here can confirm that the reason "Fox News" can't broadcast in Canada is because of the word "News" in the name . "News" could be a "protected term" meaning that you stand behind the statements being correct.

I just call it Fox Noise. Problem solved.
EDIT: although... as faux is correctly pronounced like "foe", that does open up some interesting possibilities...

My favourite political crazy is
this one... he seems to have lots of time on his hands and covers a pretty wide spectrum of topics.
