Hello, people.
I was at it again! I've uploaded a 2nd edition of my DOSBox Office, Bureau_DOSBox-2a.
Pretty much the same as last time, except I have removed the mpr music player: it's
still too choppy by comparison with what we have in most Puppies.
However, this "DOSBox Office" has several strong points in the data processing
sector:
Power Browse,
DataPerfect and
Clut
__for data proper
AsEasyAs 123 for spreadsheeting (with its famous templates)
The above will be useful to anyone needing to recuperate old databases and
spreadsheets, considering that gnumeric understands wks and DBF formats.
Obviously, one can also do current work in those programs if one is already
familiar with them. It will save you the learning curve.
PBCal (Peter Bell's Calendar), a PIM, that still holds its own against
recent ones because it's so well thought out. (See attached pic.)
Another program that is included and worthy of note:
MegaPaint is still unrivaled for drawing in black and white with exacting precision,
according to fellow member argolance, a graphic artist.
And the full NConvert utility (200 picture formats) is included. No Puppy has that, and
it's sometimes very handy.
A handful of games are included for nostalgia's sake,
All this in +/- 33 Mb unpacked, 13 Mb as a sfs.
Also attached is a menu in English. The default provided menu is in French.
Just copy pwrmenu.en to pwrmenu.ini, and away you go!
Programs were seldom localized in the DOS era, so the menu (mine) was the only
thing not in Hemingway's language (tough it out for this time, Shakespeare! ) in this
package.
It's at
http://limelinx.com/uz46 (valid for the next 30 days). If you can store it
somewhere more permanent for the benefit of all Puppyists, I'd be most grateful. Just
tell us where by leaving a note here.
This newer sfs is an upgrade from dosbox-0.72 to dosbox-0.74. The dosbox-0.74
executable itself was downloaded from Debian's "jessie" depot. Also several SDL
libraries that are needed by dosbox have been updated.
I have created this package on UpupRaring-3.992. Hopefully, Your Mileage Will NOT
Vary, but please tell me if it does: I'll try to remedy it. Thanks in advance.
Enjoy!
