Tk-Bubbles and Tk-Gemgame
Tk-Bubbles and Tk-Gemgame
The tk game Bubbles from the Puppy 2 series is my favourite computerized time waster. I have made both an SFS and a .pet with all the dependencies included. They also include the tk gemgame. Menu entries are on the Fun menu.
It has been tested successfully in Puppy431, Quirky8-10-13, and Upup.

Both these games are also available, as .pets, from the puppy ibiblio repository:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... 1.0.2a.pet
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... e-2003.pet
Both, being tcl/tk-based, need these two installed:
tcl-8.5.6.pet
tk-8.5.6.pet
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... 1.0.2a.pet
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... e-2003.pet
Both, being tcl/tk-based, need these two installed:
tcl-8.5.6.pet
tk-8.5.6.pet
Thanks to Russoodle I now have most of my stuff at http://www.puppylinuxstuff.meownplanet.net/index.html.zaivala wrote:Can't find server at puppylinux.ca
As for Tk-Bubbles here's what I'm using now:
http://www.puppylinuxstuff.meownplanet. ... 3-Xlib.sfs
http://www.puppylinuxstuff.meownplanet. ... fs-md5.txt
It contains Tk-Bubbles, Tk-gemgame and the hv3 browser along with Tk, Tcl and other dependencies. Works in all Puppies I've tried in the last year.
Enjoy, J
I'm surpised, I couldn't get the link to work. Russoodle's site was also attacked and not everything is still there.zaivala wrote:FYI, I just downloaded the Gem game listed here.
I'm running Precise Puppy 5.7.1 on an ASUS X550CA notebook.
The file downloaded and installed perfectly, shows up on my menu...
...and does nothing when I click on it. Tried it before and after a reboot.

I did find my own copy however and tried it in Slacko5502, didn't work however, too old.
Here's what I did instead:
1. Went to PuppyPackageManager (install icon on the desktop) and searched for tcl. Ended up installing tcl-8.5.11-i486-1.txz and tk-8.5.11-i486-1.txz
2. Installed http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pe ... 1.0.2a.pet and http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pe ... e-2003.pet
3. Went to /usr/local/bin/bubbles.tcl and right clicked on it. Chose "Set Run Action"
4. Went to /usr/bin/tclsh8.5 and dragged it into the "Set Run Action" box where it says "Drop a suitable application here" and clicked "Use Command"
5. Clicked on the Bubbles entry on the Fun Menu and it worked. Gemgame also worked
I'm sure the same thing can be done in Precise, I hope anyway.
Good Luck, J
I just downloaded precise-5.71, booted it, then did:
and they both ran fine. Both these games are also available, as .pets, from the puppy ibiblio repository:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/dis ... 1.0.2a.pet

tcl-8.5.6.pet
tk-8.5.6.pet
I didn't find those exact versions when I looked, but tried what I could find and both games work now. Wish it would be easy to find the LATEST despository... I'm finding 5 pages of depository, each one with different pup files... page 5 has the latest upload dates.
See, that's a nooby complaint. Any skilled user would know how and where to look or ask a question. But Debian and Ubuntu etc. have their repositories already set up for each release specifically (LuPu, etc.)... and I know Barry is not Mark Shuttleworth (and is at least semi-retired besides).

This thread hasnt updated since 2013. Just update that this post on how to install bubbles and gem game still works in 2019 on BionicPup32 version 19.03.jrb wrote:I'm surpised, I couldn't get the link to work.
