4.3 not finding network devices

I am running 4.3. I cannot find any network devices. If I run earlier versions of Puppy I can find the same devices on the same hardware without any problem.
HELP?

You probably just need to install drivers, or actually... you'd still see the hardware were drivers the issue. Nvm.

I'm running 4.3 (new to Linux) and networking works tolerably well for me at least.

I'm having the same problem as tssooma.

Using Puppy 430 at work, when clicking on the network wizard I get this message: "Puppy cannot see any active network interfaces" along with the instruction to load drivers.

When I click on "load module", and "specify" the drivers, I enter "sis900" and then "tulip", but neither can be found. I also tried typing in the device description (ADMtek... - see below) but that didn't work either.

I tried "sis900" and "tulip" because they are loaded when I use Puppy 421, which connects successfully to the internet at work. With Puppy 421, I can connect to eth1 and the device description is pci: ADMtek NC100 Everywhere Fast Ethernet 10/100

Any solution?

Thanks for the advice, [MOB]Trip. By nic do you mean a network interface card?

I don't think that can be the problem, as Puppy 421 still connects to the network perfectly well, yet on the same computer Puppy 430 does not.

I'm having a similar problem. Posted a thread here:

http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=47536

The strange thing for me is that when booting from USB connected CD/DVD everything works as expected. When booting from USB Hard Drive, no active network interfaces are found.

A solution has been proposed over on the thread I started about this.

For me, it was zp430305.sfs missing from the USB drive.

Maybe check to see if that file is present. If not, extract it from the ISO and copy it across manually. Maybe do this anyway, just to overwrite what might be a corrupted version.

Fixed the issue for me.

Thanks phillc . I checked on my work computer Monday morning, and sure enough, zp430305.sfs had not been copied to the home directory. Now that I have rectified this, the problem is solved.

The problem is avoided in the upcoming 431, as it is built without a 'zdrv' (that zp*.sfs file).

I've had the same problem on the official 4.30 release and ttuuxxx's 4.30 release, except it happens after about four days. When I first make a save file and use the live cd for a while, everything works perfect. But then after a few days, I boot up and Puppy can no longer find any live networks and my sound doesn't work any longer. Looking forward to the new 4.31.
