It's been some time since the topic of foundation registration was discussed for the first time.
Since most puppy users/developers are in Australia and United States, would these two places be ideal for the registration?
And do we have any legal experts here? Or do we have anyone that has registered a foundation before?
Some questions:
1. Cost ($) of registration?
2. Requirements? E.g. what documents are needed, etc.
3. How? (e.g. submit an XXX form to YYY department within AA days together with PPP docs by mail / in person....)
4. What a registered foundation can/cannot do (as specified in the law)?

Well, Raffy has looked into this considerably. He's created two wiki pages about this that have been around for a while.
Notes about a nonprofit organization
Draft Articles and By-laws
He lives in the Phillipines so he is limited to researching for us. Now he waits.... Ian has been investigating this in Australia, also, and is searching for realistic answers to starting a nonprofit org and setting up a bank account in its name. Our Frappr! page gives us a good visual picture of where our user base is.

Because I do not have answers to the questions that everyone is asking I have only notified a few people as to the progress I have made so far.
I am still waiting for more infomation from a gov department regarding incorporation as this may be an alternative to trying to register as a foundation in this state/country. This also affects setting up a bank account for the foundation.
With the holiday period almost upon us I think that it might take some time for a reply so I cannot state when I will be able to submit a report on this subject but I will try to compile a report containing all the information that I have gathered so far as soon as possible.

Great news Ian . . . we will get there and yes "The Foundation" is just a name and a type of organisation, we may become a Trust or a Charity or follow not-for-profit business model . . . Our other major project

is open for donations going directly to Barry
Because this is starting out this is a great way of learning Linux and Puppy by adding articles (loads of material on the wiki)
We owe Barry for the new Server and I inadvertently bought Google
At the moment Christmas cards and donations go to Barry.

My Swiss bank account contains mainly dried fish supplies but others can do better . . .

Yes, raffy has looked into this considerably, and this thread was started when I got an email from him asking if I have some free time to get things going
Good to know that Ian is looking into it

Looks like a good site but is too new so most pages there are empty and waiting for contributors.
That's a great suggestion which I've never thought ofHave you checked the Wikipedia? Some of its articles are quite authoritative.
