I used to think that JWM was the only wm available with Puppy, but then versions appeared which used icewm, openbox, xfce etc
Today I tried FLWM for the first time (albeit not on Puppy - it comes as the default wm with the latest Tiny Core version 2.0rc2). I have to say, I really like it! Very slim and fast and saves tons of screen real-estate (and flash plays fullscreen without any tweaks).
Ok, so it uses fltk - but can FLWM be easily used with Puppy or has someone already done so? FLWM is such a great wm IMO, no hidden taskbar to worry about, easy manipulation of multiple desktops, easy and perfect positioning and resizing of windows. Tiny Core use it along with wbar (for a bar of desktop application icons) - it is a great combination I'd like to see available in Puppy.

yes you can use it ... just compile fltk and then flwm ... use the link in my signature if you want to make a pet for it
if you want it to start automatically you just need to change /etc/windowmanager to read flwm instead of jwm
btw the switch from jwm in tcl is pointless ... it would have been better to drop wbar as it is really just eye candy and not "core" functional software jwm has had several fixes lately that correct these -see attached pet - plus you can have 4 highly customized trays whereas fltk requires you to have to do something then think and then do something again - it is way lighter to use jwm anyways because it doesn't need the extra fltk lib(and neither do any other core programs)... if you like the cleaner look you can set jwm to autohide the trays or remove them all together.... sorry about the rant - I just hate to see function removed before form
I have attached a pet of the latest snapshot of jwm (as of yesterday) --- even has nice rounded windows

That release is about 2 months old, Its an automate release by the server that changes the date, the model never changes and neither does the contents, I figured it was a update about a month ago but bet Barry set us straight in his Blog.technosaurus wrote:yes you can use it ... just compile fltk and then flwm ... use the link in my signature if you want to make a pet for it

Flwm for Puppy has arrived! You can download the test version here:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... h&id=22311
And read about what I'm doing with it here: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=47192
I've fixed a lot of bugs and prettied it up as much as possible. Please let me know what you think or if you find any more bugs.
Oh, and don't listen to the naysayers above. Flwm, statically linked, weighs in under 200KB and has no extra library dependencies.
