It might help if you told us the URL of the "puplet page" you tried to download from.

MiPup and MiPup2 downloads gone

#3 Post by kethd »

I wanted to try MiPup because it includes Audacity. But the download links:

ftp://puppy:puppylinux@ftp.servage.net/../MiPup-410.iso
ftp://puppy:puppylinux@ftp.servage.net/ ... .6-412.iso

that appear on the official pages:

http://www.puppylinux.org/downloads/puplets/mipup
http://www.puppylinux.org/downloads/puplets/mipup2

do not work. And I cannot locate MiPup2.6-412.iso anywhere in the googleverse, including torrents.

Can someone please upload the isos somewhere, and fix the puplet pages? And will there be a 4.2-based MiPup? Are there any 4.2-based pups that include Audacity?

Thank You!

Thanks for that speedy reply, dejan555!
It's good to have a source of original MiPup.
Can you find a copy of MiPup2 somewhere?

Thank You! The MiPup2.6-412.iso MD5 Checksum matches:
382cc21fb2acccc030c4ea10fcc90af5

How can we get the MiPup and MiPup2 puplet pages changed with these new download locations? (Also, those official pages would be even better if they included the dates of origin/creation of the download iso files -- not ideal to have to try to guess from the comment dates.)

I've been away from Puppy forums a long time -- this level of speedy community support/response is very impressive!

:D 3 CHEERS, DINGO!
...to your ripping repository of rescued remakes...

and toomuchcomputertime- many, many thanks for this "little" gem. School hols and the DVD player is on the blink - enter MiPup2!

The recycled computer/ mediaplayer is a 1.8GHz PIII with about 750Mb RAM, but has been a bugbear since I use an ATA/SD card adapter on IDE1 for frugal installs of Puppy distros, and on IDE2 I have an older IDE drive (250GB with about 4 partitions for kids movies ripped from our DVDs) which is connected with a detachable "SuperRack" mount. Kernel issues in puppies later than 4.12 refuse to load up with this setup after installation to the SD card, and I have related problems with 2-series (e.g., ttuuxx's 214X, John Biles' TeenPup) that I haven't been able to solve. The 412 definitely hits the sweetspot with this hardware configuration, and I'm looking forward to running your craftwork through the hoops,

Cheers!

Thanks for the compliments Puppyt, but all I did was change icons and programs etc, the puppy development team did most or all of what you are talking about I think.

Don't be too bashful, toomuchcomputertime - you've got a well-chosen mix of programs there and I appreciate the time spent getting it just right.

Unfortunately it seems that it was still a kernel too far for my kids' multimedia centre. I've since switched to jrb's ChoicePup - in his choicepup-4.1.2RminV2-k2.6.21.7 version with games and multimedia SFS's loaded - and got everything I want (they need or could wish for) for the present time, and is working very sweetly indeed. My other preference would have been sidder's "HamSamBen" 412-retro but it seems to be off-line for downloads at the present time with FileShare.

...then there's Iguleder's 4ever retro-retro that I could swing sidder's educational kids' game SFS's on it... but I digress-

Pity that I couldn't use your MiPup2 though - I really wanted to use Open Movie Editor on that machine - though I must mention that I really enjoyed using your MiPup Mk1 when it first came out, on my 3480CT Portege,

Cheers!

Thanks, that is kind, it does take a lot of time to make sure all packages are compatible, choose icons, etc. Glad you found something that works perfectly for you. (I got a new computer, and have been using mostly ubuntu because I would spend 'toomuchcomputertime' if I were using puppy - through trying new things of course when I should be studying or working)
